Celebration of the New Swampscott Elementary School by CTA Construction Managers Inspires Community Hope

CTA Construction Managers Celebrates the Completion of Swampscott Elementary School

CTA Construction Managers has proudly celebrated a significant milestone with the successful completion of the new Swampscott Elementary School in Massachusetts. This three-story facility, built on a sprawling 6-acre campus, is set to transform the educational landscape for the town’s youth. The new school encompasses about 153,855 square feet of modern learning space designed with both functionality and aesthetic appeal in mind.

The architectural vision for the school, crafted by Lavallee Brensinger Architects, introduces innovative features that promote an open and collaborative learning environment. Notably, two expansive open-floor areas adjacent to the Media Center seamlessly connect all three floors of the school. These visual and spatial highlights not only enhance the school's look but also ensure enhanced accessibility for students. Safety has not been overlooked; each floor line is equipped with fire shutters to maintain a high safety standard.

In its journey towards becoming a sustainable educational facility, the school aims to achieve a LEED Silver rating. This reflects the town of Swampscott's strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. The building is designed to surpass the current Massachusetts energy code, meeting the more demanding Energy Stretch Code standards, ensuring that energy efficiency is paramount in its operation.

Project management was handled by LiRo-Hill, formerly known as Hill International, serving as the Owner's Project Manager (OPM). Senior representative Paul Kalous expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “We are very happy with the completion of another successful school project and look forward to the enhancements this brings to the education of our community's children.”

The elementary school adopts a thoughtful division into Upper and Lower schools to create smaller learning neighborhoods tailored to young learners. The design encourages community gathering in collective spaces, promoting social interaction and collaborative learning among students. Principal Leigh Sherwood of Lavallee Brensinger Architects noted, “The innovative yet functional design of the school fosters collaborative learning and student engagement. We are excited about the vibrant learning environment this facility will create.”

Committee Chair Suzanne Wright emphasized the broader impact of the new school, stating, “The new elementary school is more than just a building; it’s an investment in the future of our children and our town.” She highlighted the school’s focus on sustainability, safety, and community engagement, asserting that it will serve local families for generations.

CTA Construction Managers continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in constructing sustainable and impactful educational facilities.
