Tajima Metal Works Launches GMX-2 Mailbox for Secure Package Delivery
Tajima Metal Works, a subsidiary of Sanwa Holdings Group based in Toshima, Tokyo, is set to release their innovative pre-entry and post-exit delivery mailbox called the GMX-2 on November 4, 2025. This pioneering product is tailored for multi-family residences equipped with auto-lock entrances, addressing the growing worries over re-deliveries and package theft. The tagline guiding this development is "Delivering a mailbox for everyone."
What sets the GMX-2 apart is its unique mechanical lock that requires no power or PIN setup for delivery personnel. This industry-first technology allows couriers to deposit packages from the outdoor side of a communal area, locking the mailbox securely after delivery. Residents can conveniently retrieve their items from the indoor side without any additional unlocking procedures. This design significantly simplifies the collection process, alleviating the hassles typically associated with package retrieval.
Key Features of the GMX-2
1.
Dual Retrieval Door: The mailbox features a single access door, allowing residents to collect both mail and parcels simultaneously without the need to unlock multiple compartments. Once the mailman places a delivery inside, an integrated mechanism is triggered, unlocking the delivery slot automatically when the retrieval door is opened. This means residents never have to worry about accessing the outdoor delivery compartment themselves.
2.
No PIN for Couriers: Delivery personnel can simply deposit packages and close the mailbox door. They only need to engage the handle to lock the mailbox, eliminating the need for PIN settings or notifications. This streamlined process enhances efficiency for couriers while maintaining security.
3.
Compact Size for Apartments: Designed with small packages in mind, the GMX-2 measures 280mm in height and can accommodate items up to 70cm on its sides. This size makes it easier to install multiple units in shared entrances, similar to its predecessor, GMX-1, which was launched in 2024.
Operating Instructions
The GMX-2 is meant to be integrated beside automatic locking entrances, ensuring seamless use for all residents of a building. The carefully planned dimensions are W360mm x H280mm x D355mm, making it perfectly sized for urban installations. Moreover, its rugged construction ensures it can withstand water splashes from all directions, owing to its tested protection rating.
Pricing and Availability
The GMX-2 will retail at an introductory price of ¥93,500, which includes taxes but excludes installation and transportation fees. The company aims to achieve sales goals of ¥20 million by the end of FY2026 and ¥30 million by FY2027.
With the introduction of the GMX-2, Tajima Metal Works aims not only to sell a product but also to enhance the safety and convenience of mail and package delivery in modern residential complexes. The Sanwa Group is committed to providing services that meet diverse customer needs; their mission is to contribute to society by offering safe and comfortable environment through their innovative solutions.
