Showa Kinen Park will host a unique event dedicated to exploring the value of Japanese gardens. This event, part of the broader
GREEN×EXPO 2027, will focus on the significance of Japanese gardens from various perspectives - including green infrastructure and influences from both domestic and international landscapes.
Located at the
Flower and Green Culture Center within the park, the event will kick off with a talk session at 10:30 AM, featuring renowned experts and scholars in the field of landscape architecture.

- - Hiroshi Hōsei: The outdoor director for the Japanese Pavilion at GREEN×EXPO 2027, will share insights on the design philosophy behind the pavilion, based on traditional Japanese garden concepts.
- - Tomoko Takeuchi: A professor from Chiba University, she will shed light on the role of Edo-period beach gardens and their relevance today.
- - Yuta Masakane: An expert from Shinshu University, will elaborate on the use of traditional Japanese techniques for erosion control projects and rain gardens.

Japanese Garden Tour:
Following the talk, a guided tour will commence at 1:30 PM through the stunning landscapes of the Japanese garden, the
Kanfutei Pavilion, and the
Bonsai Garden. Attendees will be accompanied by:
- - Hachirou Sakakibara: The head landscaper responsible for the Japanese gardens in Showa Kinen Park.
- - Kunio Watanabe: The architect behind the garden structures.
- - Hideo Suzuki: The person in charge of the bonsai collections.
Before embarking on this inspiring tour, a lunch break of approximately 75 minutes will be scheduled, during which participants will have the liberty to enjoy lunch on their own.
