Launching the Nerima Young People Support Project
The Nerima Young People Support Project has been launched to empower youth who have grown up in child welfare facilities or foster care. Upon reaching the age of 18, these young people are generally required to become independent from these establishments. Recognizing the anxieties faced by them, Nerima Ward has initiated a groundbreaking social support project, which will be the first of its kind in Tokyo, to collaborate with the Tokyo Child Consultation Center. This initiative aims to provide support to these youths and alleviate their concerns as they transition to independence starting from April 2025.
To raise awareness of this project and to educate the community about the realities of social welfare, a seminar will be held. The event focuses on understanding the current situation of young people with experience in social welfare, emphasizing the need for support and encouraging community involvement. The seminar will happen in collaboration with the Non-Profit Organization 'Foster Parent Hiroba Hoippu'.
