True Anomaly Secures $260 Million Funding

True Anomaly, Inc. has successfully raised $260 million in a significant Series C financing round, marking a pivotal step in the company’s mission to bolster space security. This latest funding was spearheaded by Accel, with contributions from several notable investors including Meritech Capital and long-standing supporters like Eclipse, Riot Ventures, and Menlo Ventures.

Established with the objective of developing advanced autonomous defense solutions for the U.S. and allied nations, True Anomaly has made impressive strides in a mere three years. Noteworthy achievements include the launch of the Jackal spacecraft, the roll-out of their innovative Mosaic software, and securing multiple contracts with government entities. The company has also expanded significantly, establishing four offices and two production facilities, while accumulating a total of $400 million in capital.

In December, the company completed its Mission X-2 campaign and recently announced the deployment of the Jackal spacecraft, aimed for operations in Geostationary and cislunar orbits, which are essential sectors for maintaining space superiority. The Jackal is designed with a robust performance profile and has the adaptability needed to respond to the ever-changing landscape of space threats.

Even Rogers, CEO and co-founder of True Anomaly, emphasizes the urgency of addressing potential threats to national defense capabilities stemming from adversaries operating in space. He notes, "The threat to our Armed Forces and way of life... demands the complete focus of an innovative industrial partner." Rogers expresses optimism about forming partnerships with both the U.S. Government and international allies to provide effective deterrent options to defense personnel.

The Series C funding is slated to bolster True Anomaly's growth trajectory, integrate operations, expand facilities, and advance product development. In the next 18 months, the company plans to initiate four missions across three different orbits, launch new offerings, and grow its team to over 250 employees.

Jonathan Turner, Partner at Accel, remarks on True Anomaly's capability to tackle the pressing need for U.S. supremacy in space defense, calling them a clear leader in a sector that requires innovative approaches. He adds, "Building leading capabilities in space is a difficult challenge... but we are impressed with the experience and technical expertise of the True Anomaly team."

In parallel with product advancements, True Anomaly continues to enhance its leadership team by appointing industry veterans such as Stephen Kitay as Senior Vice President of Space Defense and welcoming Frank Calvelli to its board. Moreover, the company has recently inaugurated its new facility in Long Beach, California, spanning 90,000 square feet.

True Anomaly aims to define the future of space security and resilience by integrating spacecraft, software, and autonomy. By focusing on sustainable space environments for the United States and its allies, True Anomaly is committed to establishing and deploying solutions that ensure space superiority in the years to come.
