One Year Anniversary of Michi-no-Eki Toyo Town

On December 6, 2025, Michi-no-Eki Toyo Town, operated by FoundingBase, will celebrate its first anniversary. Located in Toyo Town, Kochi Prefecture, this location has quickly become a cherished community hub since its registration as a roadside station on August 7, 2024, transitioning from its former name, ‘Umi-no-Eki Toyo Town,’ in October of the same year.

A Day of Festivities

The anniversary event promises to be a delightful occasion filled with local culinary delights and cultural displays. One of the highlights is the renowned Tuna Cutting Show, where visitors can watch as our professional staff expertly carve a large tuna right before their eyes. The first 100 attendees will even have the opportunity to enjoy fresh sashimi from the freshly cut fish! For those who miss out on the sashimi, a special sale of tuna cuts will take place later in the day.

Starting at 10 AM, tickets for sashimi distribution will be handed out, with the tasting beginning at 2 PM and tuna sales at 2:30 PM. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot.

A Taste of Local Goodness: Saturday Market

In addition to the tuna show, a special edition of the Saturday Market will feature various local producers offering a delicious array of products, including fried vegetables, roasted sweet potatoes, and irresistible sweets. Vendors confirmed for this event include:

• - Michi-no-Eki Toyo Town (serving tuna stew and unlimited mikan packs)
• - Michi-no-Eki Nankoku Furashiri (specialty fried bamboo shoots and sushi)
• - Local agricultural group Narukawa (with seasonal vegetables and rice)
• - Marukyo (Tosa dried fish) and more.

More Fun Activities

The anniversary celebration will also include food stalls, musical performances by local residents, and displays by students from the Umiiro Public School, making it a comprehensive showcase of the community's vibrancy. Attendees can also enjoy additional activities such as a photo opportunity session with local personalities.
