Zoomlion Unveils Eco-Friendly Mining Solutions
On May 16, 2026, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. hosted its much-anticipated Global Mining Machinery Expo in Changsha, drawing over 500 attendees from nearly 30 countries. This grand event spotlighted Zoomlion’s commitment to pioneering advancements in the mining sector, emphasizing three critical areas: heavy-duty machinery for open-pit mining, electric and hybrid equipment for eco-friendly mining operations, and autonomous material transport systems.
The Show Highlights: Groundbreaking Equipment
At the center of the exposition were three flagship models: the hybrid wheeled loader ZWL360, the electric-driven hybrid mining truck ZTE450HEV, and the double-engine mining excavator ZE1650G. The ZWL360, noted for being the world’s largest hybrid wheeled loader, boasts a nominal load capacity of 36 tons and a combined power of 1,495 kW, achieving over 15% energy savings compared to its peers. Meanwhile, the ZTE450HEV can carry a remarkable 240 tons and integrates energy recovery systems to enhance operational efficiency. Designed to function in harsh conditions, the ZE1650G incorporates dual QSM15 engines, showcasing Zoomlion’s prowess in engineering.
In total, over 40 new energy mining products and components were displayed, including the hybrid mining trucks ZT160HEV and its electric counterpart ZT165EV. These hybrid and electric machines are already operating across numerous mines globally, with some accumulating over 8,000 operational hours.
Green Technologies at the Forefront
During the expo, Zoomlion prominently highlighted several unique green technologies. Notably, their ZM-i super adaptive energy management system powers hybrid machines through a truly hybrid architecture, engaging both diesel and electric motors during peak loads without alternating between them. This innovative approach has reportedly led to a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and an 11.2% improvement in operational efficiency.
The focus on automation was evident, as Zoomlion showcased nearly 100 autonomous mining trucks across various Chinese sites. These trucks can navigate independently, avoid obstacles, and work in tandem with excavators. A live demonstration featured the remote-controlled ZE985G excavator, the purely electric ZT118EV truck, and the hybrid ZT160HEV truck, performing coordinated excavation, loading, and transport operations, merging remote operation with autonomous transport.
Intelligent Mining Solutions Launched
Zoomlion also unveiled two software platforms designed to revolutionize how mining operations are monitored and managed. The Intelligent Mining Supervision Platform 2.0 and the Mining Operation and Diagnostic Platform 2.0 continuously transfer field equipment data to the cloud, enabling real-time monitoring, failure prediction, and maintenance tracking.
Additionally, an intelligent mine assessment system was introduced, analyzing site conditions, modeling energy consumption, and recommending equipment setups for each specific mine. This system has already been implemented in over 150 mines, leading to more than 200 customized project plans.
According to Yuan Ye, Vice President of Zoomlion, the company is committed to continuously investing in its technical foundations to drive innovation and deepen its partnerships with clients worldwide. With these groundbreaking solutions, Zoomlion is poised to lead the way in advancing eco-friendly mining technologies and practices globally.
Emphasizing environmental responsibility while meeting global mining needs, Zoomlion's latest innovations promise not only to improve operational efficiency but also to pave the way for sustainable mining practices in the future.
