Thai Phrase Examination Coming in 2026

The much-anticipated Thai Phrase Examination, aimed at enthusiasts of Thai dramas and culture, is set to launch on August 23, 2026. Organized by Bookbird, a globally connected bookstore, this online event will cater to all fans across Japan, removing geographical barriers and making participation accessible to everyone.

What is the Thai Phrase Examination?

The Thai Phrase Examination invites fans, affectionately known as “Thai沼民,” to learn frequently used phrases from popular Thai dramas as well as expressions that are typically encountered at fan meetings, events, and social media. The event encapsulates the spirit of the phrase “#Preparing to Meet Your Favorite Without Compromise”, encouraging participants to thoroughly prepare for their experiences with Thai celebrities and artists.

Those who successfully pass the examination will receive an original certificate of completion and a special congratulatory message recorded by Pers Nakhun, who lends their voice to the course materials. This initiative is developed in collaboration with the upcoming book, “Basic Thai Phrases to Remember While Swoon Over Thai Dramas,” which will be published by KADOKAWA in 2024.

Participants can register for the exam from May 14, 2026, until August 5, 2026.

Examination Date and Format:

Scheduled for August 23, 2026, the examination will take place online, allowing competitors to participate from the comfort of their own homes.

Fees:

The registration fee is 4,950 JPY (inclusive of tax).

Results Announcement:

Pass results will be announced on September 18, 2026, followed by the distribution of the original certificates starting from the third week of September.

Study Materials

Participants who register by June 30, 2026, will be invited for free access to a special online Thai phrase lecture hosted by Fukutomi-sensei and WELCOMEタイ沼 on July 25, 2026. This exclusive session will allow attendees to request phrases they want to learn, honing their understanding of Thai expressions and enhancing their enjoyment of Thai dramas.
