ZTE Unveils Industry's First AI-Driven Full-Stack FWA Solution

On November 22, 2024, ZTE Corporation, a global leader in ICT solutions, introduced its industry-first Nebula AI FWA, a full-stack solution powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This launch is a significant milestone that aligns with the company's updated product philosophy named GIS 2.0, which stands for Green, Artificial Intelligence, and Security.

The announcement came during the inaugural ZTE Devices User Congress, themed "Better 5G, Better AI," bringing together industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss opportunities within the Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Mobile Broadband (MBB) sectors. Bai Keke, Vice President of ZTE and General Manager of Mobile Internet Devices, emphasized the crucial role of integrating AI with 5G technology to meet the increasing FWA and MBB demand. According to projections, by 2028, the FWA market is expected to reach 38.7 million units, with AI-driven 5G FWA accounting for 72% of this demand. ZTE's commitment to harnessing AI solutions will not only tackle challenges faced by operators but will also help enhance user experiences.

ZTE's GIS 2.0 Philosophy

During the event, ZTE thoroughly explained its updated GIS 2.0 philosophy. This approach utilizes cutting-edge AI technology to optimize network performance by studying user behavior and categorizing more than 4,000 applications. This innovative method has demonstrated impressive results, improving bandwidth efficiency by 20% and reducing network congestion by 30%. The GIS 2.0 standard aims to deliver smarter, faster, and safer FWA and MBB solutions.

Among the standout features of GIS 2.0 is the AI-based Super Antenna, which utilizes ZTE's proprietary phase scanning and switching technology. This technology enhances network speed by 20% in areas where signals are weak. Furthermore, GIS 2.0 incorporates advanced security measures driven by AI to detect and block cyber threats in real time, ensuring safer online environments for children via its Child Guardianship feature.

Additionally, the AI Smart Cloud platform allows operators to efficiently manage FWA and MBB devices, reducing the need for on-site support and thereby improving service efficiency.

The Nebula AI FWA Solution

One of the highlights of the Congress was the introduction of ZTE's Nebula AI FWA. This full-stack AI-powered solution features six AI applications across various scenarios, including QoS management, AI voice control, app recognition, child protection, and real-time network optimization. These features not only enhance user experience but also set new industry standards for intelligent networks.

ZTE also launched its AI-based 5G series FWA and MBB devices, which include the G5 Ultra and G5F models. The G5 Ultra is particularly notable as it is the first AI-powered FWA device equipped for 5G-Advanced and is capable of peak data transmission speeds reaching 19Gbps. It features tri-band Wi-Fi 7 and dual ultra-fast 2.5G network ports, ensuring exceptional connectivity. The integrated AI voice control and intelligent QoS management optimize internet performance for activities like streaming, gaming, and conferencing.

On the other hand, the G5F marks its place as the world's first outdoor AI FWA device capable of supporting the 5G-Advanced standard, delivering peak speeds of 10Gbps and dual-band coverage with sub-6 GHz and mmWave capabilities. This model is particularly suitable for external applications like cloud gaming and 4K streaming, thanks to its 13 dBi antennas and fast PoE network ports.
