Kurisaki Group Hosts Leadership Training for Future Employees in Hokkaido

Kurisaki Group's Joint Training for Future Leaders

The Kurisaki Group recently held its "Keisetsujuku Joint Training 2025" from July 16 to 18, aimed at nurturing the next generation of mid-career employees. This enlightening program took place in Muroran and Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, and saw the participation of 20 individuals from eight different group companies. The experience included learning about the group’s rich history, enhancing management skills, and fostering deeper connections among employees.

Training Themes and Activities

Understanding the Roots of Kurisaki Group

On the first day, the participants visited Muroran, the birthplace of the Kurisaki Group. Here, they had the opportunity to hear from Kazutaka Kurisaki, the president of Kurisaki Commercial Company, who shared stories about the founding spirit and challenges faced throughout the company's history. This included insights about the founder, Hisashi Kurisaki, who bravely ventured into iron production, livestock, and shipping industries, and emphasized the principle that “life comes first,” a lesson that has endured through turbulent times, including the Pacific War.

Participants also toured the historic residence, Keizan-en, established in 1909 by Tomisuke Kurisaki. This exquisite home, built without using any nails, showcases traditional carpentry skills and provides a glimpse into the past, allowing attendees to reconnect with the foundational ethos of the group that has been passed down for over a century.

Transition to Noboribetsu

The training then moved to Noboribetsu City, where the Noboribetsu Grand Hotel served as the venue. The hotel, known as the 'Dignitary's Guesthouse of Noboribetsu,' has a rich history intertwined with regional development. Participants viewed a historical DVD about the group and explored the scenic Hell Valley and hot spring areas, engaging all five senses to appreciate the group's contributions to the community.

Voices from Participants

Feedback from the attendees highlighted the impact of learning about the company's long-established values, enhancing their sense of belonging and motivation. Kazutaka Kurisaki’s passionate storytelling also left a lasting impression, driving many to feel inspired and invigorated.

Skills Development and Management Training

A significant focus of the program was cultivating management skills suited for future leaders. Participants were divided into five teams to conduct lectures and practical workshops relating to subordinate development, organizational perspectives, and coaching methods. By sharing experiences and strategies, they addressed personal challenges and sought pathways for improvement.

Building Connections

The training wasn’t limited to lectures and sightseeing; it also emphasized camaraderie through shared experiences in hot springs, saunas, and informal gatherings. These interactions served to strengthen bonds among participants who normally don’t have opportunities to collaborate, fostering trust and new relationships.

Future Prospects

Keisetsujuku aims to evolve continuously, promoting ongoing learning and growth among members while reinforcing connections across companies. The insights gained during these three days and the relationships nurtured will undoubtedly contribute to their future successes within the Kurisaki Group. The commitment of Keisetsujuku to the group’s development remains steadfast as they strive for excellence.
