Koto City Environmental Certification: A Fun and Educational Challenge



Starting August 28, 2023, Koto City is inviting everyone to participate in its unique Environmental Certification. This initiative not only aims to enhance environmental awareness but also supports the city's ambitious goal of achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 under the Zero Carbon City project. Since its launch in the 2022 fiscal year, this certification has been the first of its kind among the 23 wards of Tokyo.

What’s New in This Year’s Certification?


This year's certification process has been revamped to be more convenient and accessible for all participants. Key enhancements include the ability to check results immediately after the test and the option for retakes, making it more user-friendly. The test content has also been updated, ensuring a fresh challenge for returning candidates as well as newcomers eager to learn.

The Koto City Environmental Certification spans from August 28 to October 31, allowing candidates to take the test online at any time, with a duration limit of 30 minutes. This flexibility means that anyone, from students to adults, can participate without pressure! Sign up through the official certification website today!

Test Details


  • - Eligibility: Anyone can take the test. While the content is primarily aimed at middle school students and above, younger participants are also welcome.
  • - Fee: Participation is completely free of charge, including retakes.
  • - Format: Candidates can take the test online using their computers, smartphones, or tablets.
  • - Results Announcement: Results will be available from when you finish until November 30, 2023, and can be checked at your convenience.

Exam Topics and Structure


The certification covers four main themes:
1. Global Warming
2. Coexistence with Nature
3. Recycling Society
4. Koto City’s Environment

A total of 60 questions will be presented in a multiple-choice format. This mix of local and global environmental issues ensures a comprehensive educational experience.
