Automa Enhances Its Footprint in the European Energy Sector with New Initiatives

Automa Expands Operations in the European Energy Market

Automa, a pioneering technology and software company specializing in the electricity sector, has taken a substantial step in its international growth strategy by entering the European energy market. This expansion comes with the opening of a new office in Porto, Portugal, which is set to support renewable energy generators and distributors across Europe.

In 2024, Automa is expected to launch operations for five new photovoltaic power plants in collaboration with EDP Renewables — four located in France and one in Poland. This move reflects the company’s significant growth trajectory in Brazil, where it currently oversees approximately 40 GW of renewable energy generation, accounting for a quarter of the nation’s total renewable output.

Marcelo Ferreira, CEO and founder of Automa, has outlined ambitious plans for international revenue, projecting that it will surpass the Brazilian revenue within the next four years. The company has indeed experienced impressive growth rates, achieving an annual increase of over 40% across various operational sectors, including hydro, wind, solar power, energy storage, and substations.

The newly established operational team in Portugal will pave the way for future expansions, including plans for a commercial office in Madrid, Spain, set to launch in 2025 under the leadership of Giorgio Inforzato. Inforzato brings with him a wealth of experience from the European renewable energy market, further solidifying Automa’s commitment to innovative energy solutions.

The initiation of operations in Europe is timely, coinciding with the delivery of pivotal projects within the region. Automa's solutions are expected to enhance the monitoring and operational efficacy of solar plants owned by EDP Renewables in both France and Poland. Ferreira expressed pride in this progression: “Navigating the rigorous screening process of European companies marks a significant milestone for Automa. It validates our commitment to developing exceptional products and services that meet the stringent expectations of major players in the renewable energy sector.”

Over its 18 years in operation, Automa has established itself as a leader in automation technologies, offering a suite of services including SCADA, Automatic Maneuver Control, Power Limitation Optimizer, Turnkey Automation, Power Plant Controller, and SunOp. These advancements have allowed its clients to achieve an increase of up to 5% in energy generation efficiencies. To date, the company has successfully completed over 1,000 projects, established 50 operational centers, and deployed technology in more than 200 substations.

With a clear vision for the future, Automa’s expansion into Europe marks the beginning of a promising chapter that aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for renewable energy solutions and support the transition towards a more sustainable energy landscape.

As Automa forges ahead, the focus remains on leveraging its extensive experience gained in Brazil to deliver innovative and impactful solutions to the European energy market. The company’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and energy generation capabilities is poised to redefine the landscape of renewable energy in Europe, encouraging a brighter, sustainable future for the continent.
