TruGrid Celebrates Uninterrupted Safety Record with National Recognition
TruGrid, a leading name in the energy sector, has recently been awarded a prestigious Perfect Record Award by the National Safety Council. This accolade is reserved for companies that maintain 12 consecutive months without any work-related injury or illness resulting in days off. TruGrid's exemplary performance took place from January 1 to December 31, 2025, during which its workforce logged over 210,000 hours with a remarkable Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.00.
Throughout the assessment period, TruGrid also proudly reported more than 365 days without any Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable incidents while successfully completing five significant projects. Such accomplishments are a reflection of TruGrid’s unwavering commitment to building a robust safety culture and executing projects with the highest standards of diligence and care.
Josh Richardson, the Chief Operating Officer at TruGrid, emphasized the value of this recognition, stating, “Our teams pride themselves on executing projects the right way, and our strong safety culture is a fundamental component of this commitment. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our employees, partners, and subcontractors who make safe execution possible every day.”
TruGrid's safety performance far exceeds industry standards, with construction averaging a TRIR of 1.5 to 2.3 according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Moreover, utilities and renewable energy companies typically see an average TRIR of about 1.14, underscoring TruGrid’s commitment to leading the way in safety performance.
Justin Whittenburg, Vice President of Health, Safety & Environment, attributed TruGrid’s unmatched safety standards to a culture emphasizing alignment, accountability, and team empowerment. “Safety performance at this level stems from a proactive approach, where teams are emboldened to act to prevent incidents before they happen,” he explained.
In conjunction with earning this award, TruGrid released a comprehensive safety white paper that outlines the strategies contributing to this significant milestone. The white paper aims to share insights and best practices that can help strengthen safety culture across the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry by promoting effective risk management and preventive measures.
