Huawei and Industry Partners Pioneer Mobile AI Network Monetization for Enhanced 5G-A Experiences

Huawei Sets New Standards for Mobile AI Networks

The Mobile AI Summit, held during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2025, highlighted the collaborative efforts of Huawei and key industry partners to forge consensus on the future of AI mobile networks. This gathering witnessed the convergence of operators, AI ecosystem partners, researchers, and industry representatives, all discussing transformative trends in mobile AI. Two pivotal agreements emerged from the summit regarding the direction of mobile AI development: enhancing 5G-A uplink experience is paramount, and network service synergy is crucial for monetizing the mobile AI experience.

Seeking Synergy in AI Mobile Ecosystem

Wen Ku, president of the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), emphasized the significance of blending 5G-A capabilities with AI technologies. According to him, the integration of these technologies is essential for evolving communication networks. He advocated for establishing standards, creating intelligent networks, and fostering collaborative development across various ecosystems to shape the future of mobile AI.

During the summit, industry pioneers from firms like Rokid, MiniMax, and Unitree Robotics discussed strategies for AI services to differentiate themselves in a competitive market. They highlighted the evolution of user interfaces from simple touch interactions to multimodal interactions, including voice, video, and spatial computing. Advancements in AI allow for higher audiovisual transmission rates and improved model precision, leveraging 5G-A networks to reduce latency and enhance service efficiency. This is crucial for developing optimal new services that require real-time interaction, such as high-definition AI video calls, necessitating an uplink speed of at least 20 Mbps.

Experts also shared insights into how AI can optimize networks and planned strategies for the comprehensive adoption of AI technologies. The conversation highlighted how AI is reshaping mobile networks and the telecommunications sector overall, helping operators transition from traffic monetization to business activity monetization.

GigaBand: Transforming the Network Landscape

In its role as a leading 5G-A technology provider, Huawei introduced GigaBand, a suite of solutions aimed at facilitating the transition to AI-enriched services. GigaBand uses air interface resource pooling (AIR) and the deployment of an optimization solver (Optsolver) for AIR orchestration, ensuring a seamless evolution of 5G-A networks to support new AI services. This approach allows operators to develop elastic networks that offer SLA assurance and cater to diverse services such as live streaming, AI mobile assistants, and cloud gaming.

For instance, the GigaBand implementation in Hong Kong led to a 2.28-fold increase in 5G data rates while maintaining stable experiences for 4G users. Such innovations significantly benefit operators striving to create efficient, intelligent, low-carbon 5G SA networks.

As the upgrade to 5G-A continues with GigaBand and innovative technologies, along with collaborative ecosystem advancements across industries, mobile AI is poised to emerge as a driver for revenue growth in the mobile sector. This shift will also pave the way for enhanced digital lifestyles with omnipresent intelligent services.

The MWC Shanghai 2025 took place from June 18 to 20, 2025, where Huawei showcased its latest products and solutions at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). As 2025 progresses, commercial adoption of 5G-Advanced increases, with Huawei partnering with global operators, industry experts, and thought leaders to explore how AI innovations can reshape telecommunications services, infrastructure, and operations, thereby generating new revenue streams and accelerating the transition to a smarter world.
