National Conference for an Inclusive Construction Industry
On September 30th, a significant national conference will be held, aimed at fostering a more inclusive and rewarding construction industry. This event, organized by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, seeks to create a work environment attractive to everyone, including women.
The conference will address critical issues surrounding the workforce in the construction sector, emphasizing the necessity of making it a desirable field for all. In March of this year, a joint initiative between public and private sectors led to the development of an action plan focused on promoting women's participation and their retention in the industry. Titled "Action Plan for Women's Empowerment and Retention in the Construction Industry - Changing Mindsets at the Top to Transform Sites", this plan aims to encourage engagement from all demographics.
During the event, various innovative efforts and successful case studies will be presented, showcasing initiatives aimed at boosting the involvement of diverse talent in the sector. These insightful presentations will highlight the creative strategies businesses and organizations are employing to attract and retain women in construction roles.
The latter part of the conference will feature reports from the Women's Retention Support Network in the construction industry. They will outline future goals and present an overview of their recent activities, ensuring that the conversation remains focused on actionable outcomes and sustained impact.
