Zero Media has embarked on an exclusive research project to capture the real user experiences of people who have switched to these budget-friendly options. On April 17, 2025, we published a detailed user report based on interviews conducted with consumers about their experiences with low-cost SIM providers, focusing mainly on Y!mobile.
Survey Background and Purpose
The primary objective of the survey was to provide valuable insights into the usage of low-cost SIM services, specifically to be featured on comparative platforms for SIM cards. Our survey was conducted throughout April 2025 in Japan, yielding a total of three valid responses.

The interviews conducted provided intriguing insights into benefits and drawbacks associated with Y!mobile, as well as the overall pricing and service quality:

Advantages of Y!mobile
According to a user, the affordable rates offered by Y!mobile made a significant positive impact, as they noted their monthly communication costs decreasing from approximately 3,000 yen to 1,000 yen. This means they are saving roughly 2,000 yen per month, which translates to substantial annual savings. Furthermore, the user praised the clarity of the SoftBank and Y!mobile official websites and the user-friendly My Page feature.
Regarding network quality, they reported that they found Y!mobile's service to be more reliable than that of NTT Docomo, offering a level of comfort that alleviated initial concerns.

Potential Drawbacks
Interestingly, the interviewee revealed no major drawbacks to using Y!mobile. Their experience has been overwhelmingly positive, primarily due to the cost savings and quality service.
