Join Us for a Unique Family Frescobol Experience!
The Japan Frescobol Association (JFBA) is thrilled to announce that the Fukuoka Frescobol Club will host a special family experience event titled
‘Frescobol at Fukuma Beach! Family Edition’ on Saturday, June 27. This initiative highlights the commitment of JFBA to promote Frescobol, a captivating sport that combines travel and communication design across Japan.
Located in Fukuma, known as the Shonan of Kyushu, this beautiful beach is a popular destination among surfers and beachgoers alike. It will also be the venue for the upcoming
Fresckobol Fukuma Cup 2025, and is recognized for its stunning white sands and vibrant pine trees. The beach is famed for its unique beauty, drawing sea turtles for nesting due to the local conservation efforts, and during low tide, the sand reflects the sky, earning it the nickname
‘Mirror Sea.’
This will be the first Frescobol experience on this beach, specifically tailored for families, and is limited to the first six families who sign up. The participation fee is just 1,000 yen per family. Moeka Naga, a prominent player from Frescobol Fukuoka, expressed her excitement:
“We hope families come together to enjoy the beauty of Fukuma's sea, engage in physical activity, and experience the joy of connecting with each other through rallying. We warmly welcome everyone to join us!”
In July, another event named the
Fresckobol Kirishima Cup 2026 will take place in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture. If you start practicing now, you might just be ready for that competition! Don’t miss this fantastic chance to bond with your family and dive into the world of Frescobol!

What is Frescobol?
Frescobol is a beach sport originating from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1945. First played on the iconic Copacabana Beach, it has become a beloved activity on beaches worldwide. Unlike competitive sports where opponents vie against each other, Frescobol focuses on collaborative rallying between two players, making it a unique and cooperative experience. Matches take place over five minutes, maintaining a distance of seven meters, and it is often referred to as a ‘sports of compassion’ due to the emphasis on teamwork.
The JFBA aims to promote Frescobol's international standardization and is in collaboration with the Rio Frescobol Federation (FEFERJ) to establish
UAFI, the world's first international organization for the sport by October 2025. They are also focusing on building a unique Frescobol culture in Japan where people can enjoy the sport throughout the year, promoting it as a part of sports tourism. Currently, there are 29 recognized local clubs and five registered student organizations across the country.
