On October 14, 2025, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) made a significant move in supporting affordable housing by awarding Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) to Tareen Development Partners (TDP). This funding will assist in the development of the Shannon Heights Senior Living community in Shannon Heights, PA, aimed at creating a supportive residential environment for low-income seniors.

The project, situated on the site of a former elementary school in Penn Hills, Allegheny County, plans to offer 48 apartment homes specifically designed for elderly residents aged 62 and older. Importantly, the community will cater to the needs of seniors whose income is below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), addressing the urgent need for affordable housing solutions in the region.

Shannon Heights Senior Living is not merely a housing project; it is a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults. The development aims to promote an active and independent lifestyle through a variety of amenities and support services tailored for the senior community. This initiative underscores the broader mission of increasing affordable housing availability across Pennsylvania, particularly for vulnerable populations such as seniors.
