OmniTRAX Launches Chicago's New Multi-modal Logistics Hub
OmniTRAX, an affiliate of The Broe Group and one of North America's rapidly growing rail management companies, has recently announced a long-term lease for a 90-acre multi-modal logistics hub in Chicago. This site, situated on the South Side near 119th and Division Streets in The City of Blue Island Commercial Center, is positioned to significantly enhance the region's logistics capabilities. Notably, it's the largest logistics hub in the city, designed to provide direct access to vital market locations across Chicago and the Heartland while conveniently linking tenants to the largest labor pool in Chicago.
“This is an extremely rare rail-served industrial site in the heart of Chicago that offers unparalleled market access,” said Chris Tecu, Senior Vice President of OmniTRAX. With its rich industrial heritage, The City of Blue Island presents an ideal partnership for this project, aligning perfectly with both OmniTRAX's goals and community interests. Tecu further emphasized that this collaboration represents a stellar public-private partnership that exemplifies the potential for shared success and mutual growth.
The establishment of this new logistics hub is a testament to ongoing investment and growth within the City of Blue Island. Notably, Chicago Rail Link, a sister company to OmniTRAX, has been serving the Blue Island Yard since 1992, fostering strong ties and familiarity with local industry needs.
The Blue Island logistics hub is strategically designed to provide comprehensive access not only to Class I railroads via the OmniTRAX’s Chicago Rail Link, but also to essential services such as bulk commodity rail-to-truck transloading, along with secure storage solutions for trucks, trailers, and containers. This extensive operational capability will facilitate improved logistics for businesses operating in and around Chicago, ensuring that they can efficiently move goods to and from their destinations.
“Bringing this project to life will lead to the creation of new jobs and spur investment in the City of Blue Island,” remarked Mayor Fred Bilotto, who is optimistic about the potential benefits of the hub. He expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with an experienced infrastructure entity like OmniTRAX, which boasts a national network and a dedication to service excellence, thereby attracting further partnerships that will enhance long-term community value.
The operations at this significant logistics hub are set to commence immediately, promising rapid economic benefits for the area and contributing to the vibrancy of Chicago’s trade and logistics environment.
