Promotion of Okayama Tourism by International Students
On August 4, 2025, two international students from Okayama University were appointed as 'Okayama International Tourism Goodwill Ambassadors'. These students, Saardiyem Wilapattara from the Graduate School of Social and Cultural Sciences, and Niyapon Sirirat, a special auditor from Kasetsart University in Thailand, visited Okayama Prefectural Office to meet with Governor Ryuta Ibaraki.
The role of the Okayama International Tourism Goodwill Ambassadors is aimed at raising recognition of Okayama and promoting its attractions globally. Their term will last for two years, starting from July 17, 2025. In their capacity, the ambassadors plan to explore various regions within Okayama—covering tourist spots, restaurants, local specialties—and present rich insights into Okayama's culture, tourism resources, and lifestyle to international audiences, particularly in Thailand.
During their visit, Wilapattara expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I was moved by the lives and art of the people on Inujima during my class visit. I wish to convey many of Okayama’s charms to the Thai people." Sirirat shared a similar sentiment, stating, "The beauty of the flowers in Tsuyama, such as Sakura and the fragrant olive on campus, is striking. I want more people to know about the richness of nature here."
Governor Ibaraki praised their Japanese language proficiency, encouraging them, "Please act as a bridge between Japan and Thailand, spreading the appeal of Okayama."
Okayama University is committed to enhancing international exchange and promoting multicultural coexistence by working closely with local communities. We look forward to the university’s continuous efforts as a unique and leading research institution in Okayama.
