Amorepacific Museum of Art Unveils Exciting 2026 Exhibition Plans Featuring Global Artworks

Amorepacific Museum of Art Announces 2026 Exhibition Program

The Amorepacific Museum of Art (APMA), under the direction of Seungchang Jeon, has exciting plans for 2026, which include two significant contemporary art exhibitions. The season will kick off in April with a special showcase from its contemporary art collection, which promises to highlight a broad spectrum of visual culture, both from Korea and internationally. Following this, the spotlight will shift to the first solo exhibition in Asia for the acclaimed American artist Jonas Wood, scheduled for September.

Spring Exhibition: APMA, Chapter Five

The first exhibition, titled APMA, Chapter Five – From the APMA Collection, will run from April 1, 2026, to August 2, 2026. This event will curate about fifty works by over forty iconic artists, creating a reflective narrative on the crucial evolutions within contemporary Korean art. Visitors can anticipate viewing pieces from renowned figures such as David Hockney, Rose Wylie, Kiki Smith, Gala Porras-Kim, and Nam June Paik. The displayed artworks will encompass a variety of mediums, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations. This diverse selection aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the museum's contemporary collection, showcasing the vibrancy and dynamism of modern art.

In addition, this exhibition intends to serve as a bridge connecting artists, audiences, and contexts, ultimately enhancing the experience of contemporary Korean artistic evolutions.

Fall Exhibition: Jonas Wood

Starting on September 1, 2026, and running through February 28, 2027, the museum will proudly feature the first institutional overview of Jonas Wood in Asia. Wood, a Los Angeles-based artist born in 1977, is celebrated for his striking palette, innovative use of perspective, and intricately patterned surfaces.

Through a personal lens, his artworks transform everyday subjects into vibrant compositions that evoke intimate and complex psychological narratives. This upcoming exhibition will highlight approximately fifty paintings and thirty works on paper, encapsulating over two decades of Wood's artistic journey. The works presented will reflect the primary themes and motifs that have informed Wood's artistic identity and creative output. This retrospective promises to captivate and engage the audience, inviting them into the artist's vivid world.

Engaging with Art

Beyond the exhibitions, the Amorepacific Museum of Art is dedicated to fostering a deeper connection to the works on display. To enhance visitor engagement, a range of onsite programs related to the exhibitions will be announced on the museum’s official website and Instagram. These activities will aim to facilitate discussions, workshops, and interactive experiences, further enriching the visitors’ artistic exploration.

The 2026 exhibition program by the APMA not only reaffirms the museum's commitment to the appreciation of contemporary art but also emphasizes the importance of cultural dialogues in an increasingly interconnected world. As these exhibitions approach, art enthusiasts and the public alike are eagerly invited to immerse themselves in the compelling narratives offered by today's artists.
