Sungrow Supplies Innovative PowerTitan 2.0 to Finland's 100MWh Battery Storage Project
In a significant development for renewable energy in Finland,
Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. has announced its partnership with
Renewable Power Capital (RPC) to provide its cutting-edge energy storage technology,
PowerTitan 2.0, for a groundbreaking
50MW/100MWh battery storage project located in
Kalanti, southwestern Finland. This project represents a considerable step toward fortifying the region's energy stability and renewable resource integration, paving the way for similar initiatives throughout the country.
The PowerTitan 2.0 Technology
The PowerTitan 2.0 system is an advanced, liquid-cooled energy storage solution designed to enhance efficiency, lifespan, and performance. Sungrow's innovative technology incorporates precise temperature control, ensuring operational safety and efficiency even under the most challenging environmental conditions. This energy storage system can achieve a remarkable efficiency rate of 90% due to its intelligent liquid cooling, which optimizes heat management while reducing operational risks.
The deployment involves
20 units of the PowerTitan 2.0 housed within compact
20-foot containers, which includes state-of-the-art battery cells and Power Conversion Systems (PCS). Sungrow also commits to providing comprehensive operation and maintenance services under a
15-year agreement with RPC, underscoring the company's dedication to long-term support and efficiency.
A Milestone for Energy Storage in Finland
The formal agreement between
RPC and Sungrow was officially signed during the
Energy Storage Summit 2025 held in London, illustrating the international focus on enhancing energy solutions in the context of renewable energy transitions. According to
Iker Labiano, Head of Energy Storage Systems at Sungrow Iberica, this project is a crucial advancement for energy storage technology in Finland. He emphasized the significance of delivering a high-performance and reliable storage solution that supports the broader energy transition with intelligent and scalable technology.
Sarwjit Sambhi, CEO of Renewable Power Capital, highlighted Finland as a strategic market with a pressing need for efficient energy storage solutions to maximize its abundant wind resources. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with leading firms like Sungrow to establish this critical infrastructure within the Finnish energy system.
Enhancing Grid Stability and Renewable Integration
The Kalanti project's battery storage capacity will play a pivotal role in providing essential grid services, actively participate in the energy wholesale market, and facilitate smooth integration into Finland's renewable energy framework. Notably, the PowerTitan 2.0's
C5 corrosion resistance enables its application in diverse and difficult environments, making it a versatile choice for various locales.
With a proven track record, Sungrow has deployed the PowerTitan 2.0 system successfully across various global projects, including
the Philippines and
the UK. Its environmentally friendly design incorporates AI-driven temperature regulation that reduces overall energy consumption by
45%, alongside a low operational noise level of less than
75dB, making it an ideal solution for urban settings.
The Future of Energy Storage in Europe
