In a significant advancement for e-commerce in Japan, Kaunet, a subsidiary of Kokuyo Group, has announced the introduction of a Same-Day Select Service for its office supply delivery offerings. This new service will take effect starting July 30, 2025, targeting businesses that require flexible delivery options for their office supplies and related products. Located in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kaunet's innovative approach aims to alleviate issues related to delivery driver shortages and enhance overall working conditions.

Background and Objectives

The logistics industry is currently facing pressing challenges, particularly concerning the efficiency of delivery systems. Understanding this, Kaunet conducted a detailed analysis of delivery times within their service areas, finding that over 90% of same-day deliveries are completed by 6 PM. However, a staggering 88.8% of these deliveries are concentrated between the hours of 2 PM and 5 PM, indicating a substantial demand during these peak times.

To address these challenges, Kaunet decided to implement the Same-Day Select Service, adjusting their logistics strategies to foster sustainability.
