Slovakia's Historic Step Towards EXPO 2027
In a significant move, Slovakia has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia. This announcement was made by the Director General of Slovakia Travel, Matej Fekete, during a ceremony attended by key officials from both Slovakia and Serbia.
The formal agreement was signed in collaboration with Lukáš Parízek, the General Commissioner for EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, and Serbian Minister of Trade and Interior, Jagoda Lazarević. This makes Slovakia the first country to sign the agreement, marking a pivotal moment in its commitment to the global exhibition landscape.
During the signing ceremony held at the Expo Playground of the Belgrade Fair, Parízek expressed pride in Slovakia's role as a pioneer participant, stating, "This is a significant milestone for us as it is one of the largest events a country can host. Our long-standing relations with Serbia create an excellent opportunity to present Slovakia not just in the Balkans but also on a global scale."
The Slovak delegation also took time to engage with leadership from Serbia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, alongside discussions with Marija Labović, the General Director of the national tourism organization in Serbia. Conversations emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in tourism and cultural exchange.
Matej Fekete elaborated on the significance of Slovakia's participation at the Expo, highlighting it as a unique opportunity to illustrate how nations can unite, embrace cultural diversity, and promote sustainable tourism on an international platform. "Our participation signals our commitment to enhancing Slovakia's reputation globally and providing solutions that shape a better future for generations to come. Moreover, it will strengthen our tourism collaboration with Serbia," he remarked.
The EXPO 2027 is scheduled to commence on May 15, 2027, and will span a period of three months, expecting participation from over 120 countries and attracting more than 4 million visitors. This international exposition not only serves as a platform to showcase innovations but also facilitates significant dialogue about sustainability, culture, and tourism.
SLOVAKIA TRAVEL plays an instrumental role in promoting tourism within Slovakia, focusing on the development of tourism both domestically and internationally. The organization's efforts aim to boost Slovakia's visibility as a travel destination, highlighting its rich culture and stunning landscapes.
In summary, Slovakia's early commitment to EXPO 2027 underscores its dedication to international cooperation and the celebration of cultural heritage. As the world gears up for one of its most significant exhibitions, all eyes will be on Slovakia to showcase its unique contributions and aspirations on a global stage.
