Subaru Marks a Decade of Commitment to Cancer Patients Through LLS Partnership

Subaru Celebrates a Decade of Hope

Subaru of America, Inc. recently announced a significant achievement in their corporate social responsibility journey by marking ten consecutive years of collaboration with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS). This partnership has become a cornerstone of their Subaru Loves to Care® initiative, which aims to provide support to cancer patients and their families across the United States. By the end of 2025, Subaru and its retailers will have reached nearly 500,000 individuals impacted by blood cancer, solidifying their position as the largest automotive donor to LLS.

The Subaru Loves to Care initiative embodies the company’s commitment to extending love and support to those affected by cancer. As part of this initiative, Subaru and over 630 of its retailers are actively engaged in delivering warmth and compassion to cancer patients in local hospitals. They achieve this through the distribution of customized heart-shaped blankets and handwritten messages of hope. These gestures not only aim to provide physical warmth but also to uplift the spirits of patients during their treatment and recovery process.

In addition to blankets and messages, participating Subaru retailers also provide curated care kits to enhance the support offered to cancer patients. These kits typically contain essential items intended to ease the burdens that accompany treatment, showcasing Subaru's dedication to enriching the lives of individuals facing these challenging circumstances.

The emotional weight of blood cancer can often leave patients feeling isolated and vulnerable. Subaru’s ongoing efforts serve to remind these individuals that they are not alone in their struggle. Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, emphasized the meaning behind their initiative, stating that the personal touches provided through Subaru Loves to Care have a significant impact on cancer patients. He remarked, "A decade of working together on Subaru Loves to Care has only served to reinforce how meaningful a personal touch can be for those facing cancer. Hand in hand with our retailers and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, we remain committed to delivering warmth, love, and comfort during some of life's most difficult moments. This partnership helps make a difference by reminding cancer patients how many people are rooting for them."

Throughout the month of June, Subaru will continue this tradition of care by sending blankets and personal messages of hope to hospitals nationwide. In addition, 370 participating retailers will provide care kits to offer added comfort, ensuring that patients feel supported throughout their treatment journeys. Subaru’s ongoing contributions to LLS also extend beyond direct donations, including financial support for the Urgent Need Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund. This fund provides much-needed assistance to young blood cancer patients and their families, covering various non-medical expenses, such as groceries, transportation, and housing costs.

Notably, Subaru is stepping up its contributions this year by matching donations made through www.LLS.org during the Subaru Loves to Care campaign from June 1 to June 30, 2025, up to a total of $100,000. E. Anders Kolb, M.D., President and CEO of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, expressed gratitude for Subaru's commitment, noting, "Thoughtful gestures like blankets and handwritten notes from Subaru and its retailers offer real comfort, love, and encouragement during treatment, especially for children. When I think about the number of lives we have touched over the past ten years, it fills my heart to know that so many patients were reminded that they're not alone. That simple act of kindness is one that leaves a lasting effect."

For individuals wishing to contribute their own messages of hope, Subaru encourages visits to local retailers, where handwritten notes can be added to the blankets and care packages. To keep up with the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, interested parties can visit their official website at subaru.com/care and follow the hashtag #SubaruLovestoCare on social media platforms.

Over the past 20 years, Subaru has donated over $320 million to various causes and dedicated more than 100,000 volunteer hours to community service.
