AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup Returns to ESPN2
The American Kennel Club (AKC®) is thrilled to announce that its much-anticipated AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup, presented by Cosequin®, will return to the screens on ESPN2. This exciting event will premiere on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at 8 PM ET, bringing with it not just competition, but a celebration of the incredible connection between dogs and their owners.
This year’s competition was held at Mississippi State University on April 5, 2025, in collaboration with North America Diving Dogs. Canine athletes from all over the country participated in this spirited contest, showcasing their exceptional talents in various divisions. The categories included three Distance divisions: Lap, Elite, and Premier, alongside two Air Retrieve divisions: Open and Lap. The top three competitors from each division secured not only cash prizes but also national recognition as the best of the best in the canine diving sport.
Gina M. DiNardo, President and CEO of AKC, expressed her excitement regarding the event's return to ESPN, stating, "The excitement and energy that the dogs give off is palpable, and we're sure that viewers at home will be on the edge of their seats cheering for their favorite competitors." Dr. Todd Henderson, DVM, President and CEO of Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, Inc., echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of supporting events that strengthen the bonds between dogs and their owners. He further mentioned, "I am honored that this event was hosted at my alma mater, Mississippi State University."
The event will be hosted by Carolyn Manno, featuring sideline reports from Phil Murphy and analysis by Jason Rigler. Viewers can also look forward to a special guest appearance by MSU's beloved mascot, Bully the Bulldog!
