Optimus Energy Solutions Expands EV Charging Network in South Carolina

Optimus Energy Solutions (OES) has made headlines with its recent acquisition of a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging network in South Carolina. This strategic move not only emphasizes the growing importance of EV infrastructure but also showcases OES’s dedication to expanding access to renewable energy solutions in the Southeast.

Background of the Network

The fast-charging network spans 52 DC charging stations located at 26 strategic spots across South Carolina. Originally developed by Duke Energy through a pilot program approved by the South Carolina Public Service Commission, this network plays a crucial role in enhancing charging access, especially in rural areas. The region has seen an increase in EV adoption, boasting more than 20,000 registered electric vehicles on the road currently.

Strategic Transition

As Duke Energy's pilot program concluded, OES recognized the necessity of preserving the established infrastructure. They moved quickly to take over the stations, ensuring uninterrupted service and operation. The transition involved migrating these stations over to the ChargePoint® network, a move aimed at improving visibility and accessibility for electric vehicle drivers.

Ben Pauluhn, President of Optimus Energy Solutions, emphasized their commitment to maintaining and growing the US's energy infrastructure. He stated, "This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to and long-term investment in EV charging access," highlighting the significant role these charging stations will play, particularly in rural regions where essential infrastructure is a necessity for EV users.

Future Plans and Commitment

OES has expressed its intentions to operate and maintain the charging network for many years to come, aligning with the anticipated growth of electric vehicle adoption in the Southeastern United States. By ensuring the availability of critical charging infrastructure, the company aims to propel the increase of renewable energy and electric vehicle solutions throughout the region.

In addition to this acquisition, OES has been actively involved in building and supporting EV charging projects along with renewable energy initiatives across several states including Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama

A Vision for Renewable Energy

Optimus Energy Solutions was founded to make renewable energy and EV charging more accessible to various stakeholders in the Southeast, including individuals and businesses. Their expertise extends to EV charging solutions that prioritize long-term maintenance and operational uptime. Additionally, the company has been expanding its offerings in solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions for commercial, municipal, and residential sectors.

OES’s move to acquire and enhance this important charging network reflects a larger industry trend towards sustainable energy solutions. As electric vehicles become more prevalent, ensuring that necessary infrastructure keeps pace is vital for encouraging widespread adoption and supporting a clean energy future.
