Developing Work Ethos: Career Experience Program at La Vista Hakodate Bay

Career Experience Program: DOMINISTA CHALLENGE

Kyoritsu Maintenance, a company renowned for operating Dormy Inn and Kyoritsu Resort hotels, is set to host a career experience program called DOMINISTA CHALLENGE at La Vista Hakodate Bay on September 17th and 18th, 2025. This initiative targets high school students from Hakodate University affiliated Koryo High School and aims to cultivate a strong work ethic through immersive experiences in the hospitality sector.

What is the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?

Since 2019, Kyoritsu Maintenance has welcomed students nationwide for the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE, a vocational experience program intended for junior and senior high school students. Participants are offered hands-on experiences at the hotel, including customer service at the front desk, housekeeping, and other critical roles. Through these activities, students gain insight into the workings of the hospitality industry while fostering a sense of regional pride and the importance of community contribution. In a globalized world where cultural diversity is increasingly prevalent, these experiences serve as vital lessons in multicultural coexistence. To date, over 60 schools have participated in this initiative, with 20 from Hokkaido and Tohoku regions alone, integrating vocational awareness into their career education programs.

Koyama Reo, Hotel Manager at La Vista Hakodate Bay commented: “This program offers students a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes preparation and the joy of directly serving guests. We hope this experience aids in their future career decisions.” Throughout the two-day internship, students will delve into both front and restaurant operations. They will encounter the joys and challenges of these roles while being fully supported by our staff. Together, we will learn in a fun and engaging environment!

Background and Future Perspective

In a time characterized by social and economic uncertainties, providing career education that allows students to experience the meaning and joy of work has become essential. Additionally, as Japan faces a declining population, fostering a love for their hometowns while encouraging proactive efforts to tackle local issues has become critically important. Through this program, Kyoritsu Maintenance aspires to offer children opportunities to understand the joy of work and empathy towards others, nurturing their love for their community and motivating them to think and act on the future of both themselves and their society.
