Trina Storage Strengthens Commitment to Japan Market
Trina Storage, a leading provider of energy storage products and solutions, has recently been recognized as a "Witness Testing Laboratory" by the Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET). This significant certification, expected to revolutionize its development of residential energy storage systems, will become effective in April 2025.
Upon receiving this certification, Trina Storage can now conduct testing in-house, under the supervision of JET staff, based on JIS C 8715-2 Clause 8.2 and related standards. This development will dramatically enhance the speed and flexibility of product introductions into the Japanese market, fulfilling local safety standards while addressing the specific needs of consumers and businesses alike.
JIS C 8715-2 is imperative for ensuring the safety of residential lithium-ion battery systems in Japan, establishing strict testing criteria for the safety of battery systems under abnormal conditions such as overcharging and temperature swings. Given its importance, the Todai Testing Laboratory recognition underscores Trina Storage's robust quality management and proactive safety measures.
In the past, the company used external testing agencies to obtain JET certification, which often prolonged the development process. With the launch of an in-house lab compliant with JET standards, the need for external parties has reduced considerably. Now, Trina can conduct necessary testing much more efficiently, cutting down the lead time from development to certification and ultimately enhancing their market responsiveness.
Currently, this lab has already verified several testing protocols, including propagation testing under JIS C 8715-2 and JIS C 4441, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of residential energy storage systems. The facility is equipped to handle a variety of evaluation tests, including overcharge, short-circuit, thermal cycling, drop tests, and more, tailored to diverse product requirements.
Moving forward, Trina Storage prioritizes the enhancement of product quality and safety in the Japanese market. Their commitment to rapid JET certification and elevated evaluative capabilities aims to promote the adoption of reliable energy storage solutions across the region.
