CIC Japan's Kids Week 2025: Supporting Families at Work
CIC Japan, headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, has announced its highly anticipated event for families, "Kids Week 2025," which will take place from August 25 to 29, 2025. This initiative, aimed at supporting tenant members and their families, focuses on creating a family-friendly workplace and will be hosted at both CIC Tokyo and CIC Fukuoka / Venture Café Fukuoka.
From Acceptance to Genuine Welcome
CIC Japan is committed to building a supportive workplace environment for employees who are also parents. Understanding the challenges faced during long breaks like summer holidays, Kids Week aims to lighten the childcare burden, ensuring that team members can work with peace of mind. The goal is not only to accept family members but to genuinely welcome them into the workplace atmosphere.
Engaging Activities for Kids
The Kids Week event will feature a variety of programs designed to engage children and provide parents with a supportive working environment. Here’s what to expect:
CIC Tokyo:
1.
Create Your Own Picture Book Using AI Coding!
In collaboration with client Tensorverse, a workshop using basic programming to create picture books will be held. Children will utilize beginner-friendly AI tools to craft their own storybooks based on their summer memories, culminating in a proud presentation of their creations at the session's end.
2.
Implementation of Babysitting Services
Partnering with Simplee, CIC Tokyo will temporarily convert an event space into a nursery. Professional staff will provide supervised care for infants aged eight months and older over the course of two days, offering children a secure space to play while allowing parents to focus on their work.
3.
Summer Festival Celebration
The highlight of Kids Week will be the "Summer Festival," themed around traditional Japanese summer celebrations. Parent-child activities will include giant Jenga, yo-yo fishing, fan decoration, and a prize lottery, ensuring fun and engagement for all.
Additionally, on the final day, movement artist Chikako Fujii will lead an improvisational workshop blending imagination and bodily expression, enabling children to move freely and enjoy a creative, joyful experience.
CIC Fukuoka / Venture Café Fukuoka:
1.
Summer Research Project: Create Music with AI Coding!
Targeting children of CIC Fukuoka tenants and visitors of the "Thursday Gathering," this project will collaborate with Koutarou Sakamoto from the University of Tokyo’s AI research team, allowing Fukuoka's children to create unique music using generative AI. Using innovative "Vibe Coding" for interactive programming, participants will issue voice and text commands to create music in a co-creative format with AI.
Embracing Diverse Family Structures
During Kids Week 2025, over thirty children participated, many engaging in multiple activities, with feedback like “This was incredibly helpful” and “It felt like our family was part of the workplace.” This feedback reinforces the value of CIC's goal of creating an inclusive workplace culture.
CIC Japan believes that supporting families should extend beyond single events; it should be an embedded cultural practice. Looking towards the future, the organization is eager to continue this initiative and welcomes even more families to future Kids Weeks.
A Commitment to Family Inclusion
Mina Hira, General Manager of CIC Tokyo and a founding member of CIC Japan, expressed, "As CIC Japan celebrates its fifth anniversary in Japan, we are committed to respecting diverse family structures and genuinely welcoming their presence. Kids Week is a manifestation of this philosophy, showcasing safe spaces for employees and their families to thrive together. We remain dedicated to supporting everyone involved in parenting and caregiving, fostering an environment where every individual can flourish in their unique way."
