HunterLab Introduces Vista® L2 Spectrophotometer with Enhanced Measurement Range of Up to 710 nm

HunterLab Unveils Vista® L2 with Extended Measurement Capabilities

In a significant advancement for color measurement technology, HunterLab, acknowledged globally as a leader in color analysis, has introduced its latest product, the Vista® L2 spectrophotometer. This new generation of device elevates the standard for measuring transmission color and haze in transparent and translucent liquids and solids, extending the measurement range up to 710 nm.

The new Vista® L2 integrates the sophisticated "Essentials L2" software, recognized as the most advanced color analysis tool in the industry. With improvements such as increased processing power and storage capacity, this technological leap allows quality control teams in various sectors—including beverages, edible oils, liquid chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental tests—to enhance their monitoring efficiency without altering existing procedures or equipment.

The extended measurement capabilities sharpen the distinction between actual color measured as extinction and turbidity measured as light scattering. This clarity provides manufacturers with the ability to identify instabilities in liquid products early on, thereby ensuring a more reliable assessment of color stability.

Moreover, the device’s new capabilities enable chlorophyll measurements at specific wavelengths (630, 670, and 710 nm) in accordance with AOCS Cc 13d-55 standards, crucial for monitoring oxidation and ensuring the longevity of edible oils. Bob Weaver, President of HunterLab, states, "Quality teams are increasingly required to conduct more measurements within tighter time frames without additional equipment or personnel. The Vista® L2 is designed precisely for these demands. It broadens the measurement range of a single device while utilizing the same methods and accessories our customers are already familiar with, allowing for upgrades that enhance functionality without disrupting workflows."

The Vista® L2 builds upon the trusted Vista platform, maintaining the transmission geometry, full-spectrum LED illumination, and user-friendly touchscreen interface. New and enhanced features include:
  • - 32 GB of internal memory, enough to store millions of measurements
  • - HDMI output for displaying results on external screens
  • - An integrated wavelength testing standard ensuring consistent performance
  • - Essentials L2 software, which can be updated via USB stick or direct internet connection.

Uniquely, the Vista® L2 is the only transmission measurement device that applies the Beer-Lambert Law with the required precision to determine absolute color using standard cuvettes and vials. It automatically measures the color of edible oils at optical path lengths of 5.25 inches or 1 inch, facilitating the measurement of APHA color in smaller cuvettes than competing systems, thus reducing dependence on expensive specialized cuvettes.

To accommodate various testing scenarios, interchangeable holders and bases come in "Multifunctional," "Precision," and "Self-Centering" styles, utilizing magnetic attachments and positioning pins for repeatable results. The Vista® L2 is now available for purchase, and interested parties can reach out for demonstrations through the HunterLab website.
