Enfinity Global Partners with VW Kraftwerk to Supply 400 GWh of Renewable Energy Certificates

Enfinity Global and VW Kraftwerk's Sustainable Collaboration

In a significant milestone for the renewable energy sector, Enfinity Global, a leading player in the industry, has established a substantial partnership with VW Kraftwerk GmbH, a part of the Volkswagen Group. This collaboration focuses on supplying Guarantees of Origin (GOs) sourced from Enfinity's solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants located in Italy.

Details of the Agreement

As part of this agreement, Enfinity will deliver approximately 40 GWh of Guarantees of Origin annually for the next decade. This amounts to a total of 400 GWh over the ten-year period. These GOs serve as a certification that a corresponding amount of electricity has been generated from renewable sources, thereby lowering CO₂ emissions associated with the lifecycle of electric vehicles. This move is particularly pertinent as the automotive industry transitions towards more sustainable practices.

Carlos Domenech, CEO of Enfinity Global, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, emphasizing their commitment to supporting the Volkswagen Group in its quest to achieve carbon neutrality across its electric vehicle fleet. He stated, "We are honored to support the Volkswagen Group as it transitions its electric vehicle fleet to be carbon neutral and in advancing the transformation of mobility across Europe." Domenech highlighted Enfinity’s dedication to being a long-term partner for innovative energy solutions, such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and the aforementioned Guarantees of Origin, which provide value to their customers.

Impact on Renewable Energy Adoption

The General Manager for Europe at Enfinity Global, Julio Fournier Fisas, commented on the significance of Guarantees of Origin as a transparent and effective tool for promoting renewable energy adoption. He asserted that these initiatives can significantly accelerate the energy transition by showcasing how cross-sector partnerships can foster measurable environmental impact. "This collaboration is a strong example of how cross-sector partnerships can generate measurable environmental impact and drive progress toward climate neutrality in Europe," Fisas noted.

Through this deal, Enfinity Global reinforces its position as a strategic ally for businesses seeking to integrate renewable energy solutions into their operations. The company is dedicated to facilitating the decarbonization of industrial supply chains while contributing to the establishment of a low-carbon, resilient energy future. Furthermore, Guarantees of Origin are not only crucial for certifying the renewable origin of energy but also play a vital role in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, aligned with European sustainability regulations.

Enfinity Global's Renewable Energy Portfolio

Enfinity Global boasts a vast global footprint and has developed an extensive pipeline of 37 GWh aimed at advancing the decarbonization of industrial activities and progressing toward a circular economy. In Italy, Enfinity is actively growing its portfolio, which includes solar PV power plants and battery energy storage systems exceeding 8.6 GWh. This expansion plays a pivotal role in Italy's ambitions to achieve its decarbonization goals while enhancing energy security across the region.

In conclusion, the partnership between Enfinity Global and VW Kraftwerk illustrates a collaborative effort striving for a more sustainable future within the automotive industry, showcasing the innovative potential of renewable energy partnerships that can address current environmental challenges.
