Arclin Unveils Major Expansion in Nomex® Production
Arclin, a leader in material sciences, has made headlines by announcing a multi-million dollar investment aimed at increasing the production capacity of Nomex® paper at its Asturias facility in Spain. This strategic move is designed to support the ever-growing demand for Nomex® across various vital sectors, including aerospace, electrical infrastructures, electric vehicles (EVs), and defense.
Since acquiring Nomex® in April 2026, Arclin has been committed to enhancing its capacity, reliability, and long-term growth prospects to meet customer demands. The company anticipates record delivery volumes of Nomex® paper in 2026, with expectations of continued growth into 2027. CEO Bradley Bolduc emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in Nomex’s future, stating, “The expansion in Asturias will solidify our global manufacturing network and help assure that we can continue supporting our customers as demand increases.”
The Asturias facility has played a crucial role in the Nomex® manufacturing network since 1993. With this new investment, the site will increase its Nomex® paper production capabilities, becoming one of four manufacturing plants in Arclin's global Nomex® production network. Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full commissioning scheduled for early 2028.
Mark Glaspey, President of Arclin, highlighted the essential role that Nomex® plays in several high-demand applications, stating, “Our customers rely on Nomex® paper for some of the most demanding applications in the world, from airplanes and electric vehicles to energy production and network infrastructure.” For decades, Nomex® has set the standard for performance in critical applications. “With this investment, we renew our commitment to advancing technology, developing new specifications, and collaborating closely with our customers to meet evolving performance requirements and enable new applications.”
