Honoring the Heroes of Pet Rescue: The Heroic Hearts Collective
On a day dedicated to recognizing the unconditional love animals bring into our lives, National Pet Day, PetPlace® and Pets Best Insurance took the opportunity to honor the tireless efforts of five remarkable pet rescue organizations. This initiative, called the 'Heroic Hearts Collective', was launched to underscore the increasing struggles that rescues face across the country, including overcrowding, financial strain, and heightened surrenders.
In a remarkable outpouring of community support, over 15,000 nominations were put forward from pet lovers eager to highlight the impactful work of these rescue groups. The significant need for support in the realm of animal rescue was made abundantly clear, as these organizations strive every day to save vulnerable pets.
Sam Watson, President of PetPlace, remarked, "Pet rescues work tirelessly to save and rehome pets, often with limited resources. At PetPlace, we're honored to support these organizations through the Heroic Hearts Collective, recognizing their dedication and providing meaningful aid to help them continue their lifesaving work."
The five rescue organizations that were selected to receive this year's 'Heroic Hearts Collective' award include:
- - AmsterDog Rescue: This rescue has been an essential presence in the Greater New York City area for over 14 years, formed by a dedicated group of volunteers ready to help pets in need, originally inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
- - Great Pyrenees Rescue Society: Based in Spring, Texas, this volunteer-run organization focuses on the rehabilitation and rehoming of Great Pyrenees dogs that find themselves at risk.
- - The Pittie Party of Central Florida: Located in Kissimmee, this rescue is devoted to saving dogs on the brink of being euthanized in county shelters, providing them with necessary medical care and a loving environment.
- - Umbrella of Hope: Operating out of Pittsburg, California, Umbrella of Hope is committed to decreasing the rate of euthanasia by fostering pet adoptions and raising awareness about the homeless pet crisis.
- - Whiskers N Wishes Sanctuary: This Tucson-based sanctuary specializes in rescuing felines, particularly senior cats and those with special needs, ensuring they find loving forever homes.
Each of these extraordinary rescues was chosen at random to receive a donation of $1,000, along with essential resources such as microchips and a feature story on PetPlace.com to shed light on their vital work.
In a bid to further support rescues, PetPlace also announced the upcoming launch of
24PetRescue, a free software tailored to assist these organizations in streamlining their operations. Designed to be mobile-friendly, this software will help rescues manage everything from intake processes to medical records and adoption data. Sam Watson stated, "Rescue groups work tirelessly to save lives, but managing operations can be tough. Our free software, 24PetRescue, simplifies end-to-end processes in one mobile-friendly platform—so rescues can focus on what matters most: finding loving homes."
