Located in North America, Buongiorno is set to join IFS's executive leadership team and bring with him over 30 years of experience in the aerospace and defense sectors.
Prior to joining IFS, Buongiorno was the CEO of Tsunami Tsolutions, a firm specializing in engineering and IT services tailored for the aerospace and defense industry. His responsibilities at IFS will include a strategic shift in their Aerospace & Defense operations, building on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Scott Helmer, who will transition to the role of Chairman. Helmer's new focus will be on nurturing strategic customer relationships and mentoring individuals within the organization.
Buongiorno comes to IFS with substantial experience leading intricate global operations and fostering business growth. He has held prominent positions at both StandardAero and Pratt & Whitney, where he managed engineering, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), fleet management, and lifecycle support for both commercial and military programs.
In his new role, Buongiorno aims to significantly enhance market value for defense manufacturers, MRO providers, and major global airlines. He plans to position IFS as a leader in delivering substantial customer value through their AI-infused solutions, including IFS Cloud, which is acclaimed for improving turnaround times and reducing aircraft downtime while enhancing efficiency and productivity.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Buongiorno stated, "I'm thrilled to join IFS at such a pivotal moment for the Aerospace & Defense sector. Our company is already trusted by leading aerospace organizations, and I look forward to expanding on this success. With advanced Industrial AI capabilities and a strong customer focus, we are uniquely poised to aid aerospace and defense companies in refining and advancing their operational effectiveness. I am eager to champion our global efforts and maximize our value proposition to our clients."
Mark Moffat, the current CEO of IFS, also commented on Buongiorno’s appointment, saying, "At this critical phase for the aerospace and defense market, Mark brings invaluable experience. His leadership, coupled with our deep industry understanding, will be vital as we help clients manage complexity and drive innovation. With an increasing number of organizations looking to modernize their operations, our strength lies in recognizing industry nuances and delivering measurable results through IFS Cloud and Industrial AI."
IFS maintains a strong presence in the Aerospace & Defense arena, providing support for some of the industry's most intricate and mission-critical operations. Thanks to its Industrial AI and advanced service capabilities, the company allows businesses to address challenges effectively and achieve their strategic objectives in an era where efficiency is paramount.
