REXEV Transfers Direct Management of eemo Car Sharing to Bank Rent-A-Car

Transition of eemo EV Car Sharing Business

In a significant move to enhance the landscape of electric vehicle mobility, REXEV, a company specializing in EV management systems, has decided to transfer its direct operation of the eemo EV car-sharing service to Bank Rent-A-Car, effective April 1, 2026. This strategic decision reflects REXEV's commitment to concentrating its resources on energy management and system provision while allowing Bank Rent-A-Car to expand its operations as a dedicated EV car-sharing provider.

Background and Purpose of Business Succession

Since its inception, REXEV has utilized its unique energy management technology, which integrates EVs and stationary storage batteries, to develop the eemo car-sharing service. This service has been firmly rooted in the Odawara and Hakone regions, focusing on localized EV utilization and establishing a wealth of know-how in energy management. The succession aims to allow REXEV to concentrate its efforts on the development of next-generation energy management systems (EMS) and the provision of the eemo brand's platform.

On the other hand, Bank Rent-A-Car brings a vast experience in managing rental and shared car services across Japan. The company will oversee 14 stations, including those in Odawara and other parts of Kanagawa Prefecture, thereby expanding the reach and operational capacity of the eemo service. Jointly, REXEV and Bank Rent-A-Car will work towards accelerating the implementation of sustainable mobility services utilizing electric vehicles.

Future Business Plans

Post-succession, the brand name, service offerings, and existing membership information for eemo will remain unchanged. Bank Rent-A-Car is set to become the foremost franchise partner utilizing the REXEV system, committing to fostering sustainable local mobility and revitalizing the community. The two companies will continue to collaborate closely to drive the societal adoption of EV mobility alongside energy management.
