Exciting News for Ice Hockey Fans in Japan!
In a groundbreaking development for ice hockey enthusiasts, Japan is set to launch a brand new league, the
EXTREME ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE (XHL), which is scheduled to commence in
October 2025. This initiative, spearheaded by the
Japan Ice Hockey Federation, aims to establish a robust secondary league positioned just under the prestigious
Asia League Ice Hockey. The XHL is not only a platform for competitive ice hockey but also a venue for developing players and referees, promoting the sport, and enhancing the spectator experience.
The Purpose of the XHL
The primary objective of the XHL is to expand the popularity and market presence of ice hockey across Japan. It seeks to provide essential support for the growth of both players and referees. Focusing on entertainment and effective information dissemination, the league aims to create an engaging viewing experience that attracts a broader audience. Key to this endeavor is increasing the number of individuals experiencing ice hockey for the first time, especially children, thus fostering a love for the sport from a young age.
To ensure the healthy growth of ice hockey in the decades to come, proactive steps need to be taken now. The Japan Ice Hockey Federation is committed to addressing the challenges ahead while ensuring the sport's prosperity. The XHL is envisioned as the first step in this important journey.
Vision of the XHL
The name
