Tesla Japan Achieves World's First Fully Autonomous Delivery with Model 3 and Model Y

Tesla's Historic Achievement in Autonomous Deliveries

In a groundbreaking event on June 28, 2025, Texas time, Tesla Inc. successfully executed the world’s first fully autonomous vehicle delivery from its Gigafactory Texas to a customer's home. Utilizing cutting-edge autonomous driving technology, this achievement marks a significant milestone in the automotive industry, showcasing Tesla's commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation solutions.

The vehicles involved in this unprecedented delivery are the Model 3, a mid-sized sedan, and the Model Y, a mid-sized SUV, both of which are currently available in Japan. Tesla aims to present the future of mobility and the incredible potential of these vehicles to the Japanese market, enhancing public understanding of Tesla’s allure while accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.

Exciting Financing Options

As part of this historic moment, Tesla introduced a special 0% interest financing campaign for the Model Y and Model 3 on July 1, 2025, applicable to existing stock until September 30. This initiative allows customers to significantly reduce their loan payments, as Tesla absorbs the interest costs. Whether it’s the latest Model Y or the classic Model 3, Tesla’s advanced technology is now more accessible than ever.

For customers considering the Model 3, the financial incentive equates to a monthly payment of approximately ¥650, effectively allowing ownership at a similar cost to regular daily expenses such as coffee or subscription services. Additionally, the implementation of the CEV subsidy for the 2025 fiscal year boosts pricing competitiveness and affordability for potential buyers.

Pricing Breakdown

The prices for Model 3 and Model Y after applying the special price adjustment and including consumers' subsidy, are as follows:
  • - Model 3 RWD: ¥4,860,000 (after special price adjustment of ¥453,000)
  • - Model 3 Long Range AWD: ¥5,669,000 (after adjustment of ¥550,000)
  • - Model 3 Performance: ¥6,910,000 (after adjustment of ¥349,000)
  • - Model Y RWD: ¥5,587,000
  • - Model Y Long Range AWD: ¥6,476,000

Note: Prices are inclusive of consumption tax, excluding optional costs. This breakdown is based on pricing as of July 2025.

Charge in Minutes with Superchargers

Tesla's innovative Supercharger stations, strategically placed nationwide, allow for rapid recharging in just minutes. Capable of delivering up to 250kW, these chargers enable a range of approximately 275 kilometers to be added in roughly 15 minutes, minimizing the need for charging stops during travel.

In total, there are over 70,000 Superchargers installed across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, with 673 operational chargers at 133 sites within Japan alone. To facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles, Tesla is committed to expanding its charging infrastructure, ensuring owners can easily recharge wherever they go.

The Future of EV Charging Standards

Notably, nearly all automakers in North America, including Japanese manufacturers, have opted to adopt Tesla's NACS (North American Charging Standard), which is set to expand further in the future. Japanese companies such as Sony Honda Mobility and Mazda have also decided to implement NACS in vehicles designed for the Japanese market.

In conclusion, as Tesla moves forward with autonomous vehicle deliveries and enhanced financing options, the company continues to lead the charge in sustainable transportation, making electric vehicles more accessible and practical for everyday consumers.
