Sectra Partners with Norwegian Health Regions for Cloud-Based Training Solution
Sectra's Groundbreaking Agreement for Medical Training in Norway
In a major advancement for healthcare education, Sectra, the renowned international medical technology and cybersecurity firm, has secured a three-year contract to implement its innovative cloud-based platform, the Sectra Education Portal, throughout all health regions in Norway. This initiative aims to revolutionize the training of healthcare professionals across the country by leveraging state-of-the-art technology to provide high-quality, clinically relevant education in both pathology and radiology.
The implementation of the Sectra Education Portal is set to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals at a national level, allowing for efficient and resourceful training practices. Johan Carlegrim, President of Sectra's Medical Education unit, emphasized how Norway's coordinated approach signifies a commitment to enhancing specialist training. He noted, "The rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare, driven by technological advancements and artificial intelligence, underscores the necessity for ongoing education in our field. Norway’s investment in a unified platform sets a clear direction for maintaining high standards of competence and quality on a large scale."
Streamlined Learning Platform
As a fully managed Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, the Sectra Education Portal significantly alleviates the IT strain on hospitals. By ensuring automatic updates, providing robust security measures, and guaranteeing continuous access to the latest features, it allows healthcare institutions to focus more on their primary mission—patient care. The platform also enables a standardized training approach, mirroring the tools used in clinical settings to enhance both remote and on-site learning experiences. Consequently, clinicians will be better equipped to deliver top-tier patient care while improving operational efficiency within their facilities.
Fredrik Brun, Project Manager at Helse Vest IKT, elaborated on the implications of this initiative, stating, "By offering all healthcare regions access to a consistent platform, the sharing and reusing of educational materials across the nation will be simplified. The image-sharing aspect of this solution is pivotal for establishing effective national training programs and facilitating the comparison of methods and quality across laboratories. This marks a significant step towards enhanced patient care."
Access and Implementation Timeline
The agreement, which forms part of Sectra's fiscal activities for the fourth quarter of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, involves the rollout of the Sectra Education Portal to four Norwegian health regions known collectively as Spesialisthelsetjenesten: Helse Nord RHF, Helse Midt-Norge RHF, Helse Vest RHF, and Helse Sør-Øst RHF. The initial phase allows for the platform to accommodate up to 300 users monthly, all of whom currently utilize Sectra’s radiology solutions. Additionally, three of these regions have adopted Sectra's digital pathology solution, enhancing the interconnectedness of their healthcare practices.
The Future of Diagnostic Education
The Sectra Education Portal not only enhances diagnostic training but also fortifies medical education by offering a cohesive platform dedicated to skill advancement, competency validation, and performance metrics. Participants are granted access to real-life cases coupled with professional imaging tools that reflect real-world diagnostic workflows, promoting practical learning. Built on Sectra's enterprise imaging architecture, the cloud-based solution serves as a scalable strategy, addressing the overarching educational and diagnostic requirements prevalent in the medical imaging field today.
