Participation of Yokohama Excellence in Unified Sports

Yokohama Excellence, a professional basketball team based in Yokohama, has announced its participation in the Unified Sports Basketball Exhibition Match and activities, hosted by B.LEAGUE Hope and Special Olympics Japan (SON). This event aims to promote understanding and support between athletes with intellectual disabilities and their partners through collaborative sports engagements.

Since 2018, B.Hope and SON have been emphasizing the significance of Unified Sports, which involves teams composed of athletes with intellectual disabilities and those without. These joint teams practice and compete together, fostering a better understanding of each individual’s uniqueness, ultimately striving towards an inclusive society. With the upcoming 2026 Special Olympics National Summer Games in Tokyo, the exhibition match serves as a platform to showcase the ideals of diversity and inclusion within the realm of basketball.

- Part One: Exhibition Match
A mixed team composed of Special Olympics athletes, partners, and B.LEAGUE players will engage in a scrimmage.
- Part Two: Activities
Mixed teams will conduct mini-games:
1. 5-on-5 mini games
2. 3x3 mini games

Among the participants from Yokohama Excellence will be player #8 Tatsuya Nishiyama, demonstrating the commitment to support and uplift the athletes involved in this meaningful initiative.

Inclusive Access

The exhibition match, alongside the 2026 Special Olympics National Summer Games, will be open for public viewing at no charge. Families and basketball enthusiasts from all over will be welcome to join and witness the event, reinforcing the spirit of community and fellowship.
