Valor Education Expands Its Reach with New Campus in South Austin

Valor Education Expands in South Austin

Valor Education, an organization dedicated to providing classical education, has officially opened the doors to its new campus, Valor South Austin. Located on a beautiful 25-acre site at the intersection of S MoPac and SH-45, this 103,000-square-foot facility is designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality education in the area.

This educational institution is part of Valor Education’s mission to serve over 4,000 students across its five K-12 charter schools situated throughout the Austin and San Antonio metro regions. The new campus significantly increases enrollment capacity, allowing for up to 1,550 students, a marked upgrade from its previous facility.

Valor South Austin opened with an initial enrollment of 1,364 students, but due to its popularity, it received nearly 2,000 applications during its recent open-enrollment lottery for the 2025-26 school year. Headmaster Michael Cowan expressed his excitement, saying the new campus represents a dream long in the making, allowing the school to fortify its roots and continue its traditions in a much larger and purpose-built environment.

The state-of-the-art campus features 62 classrooms, which include seminar rooms, science labs, dedicated spaces for art and music, and various general classrooms. Notably, the school boasts a black box theater, a library, and several outdoor amenities such as a spacious courtyard and secure playground. To support its athletic programs, the campus includes a dual-use football and soccer field, cross-country trails, weight training facilities, and a performance stage within its gymnasiums.

Additionally, modern safety and security measures have been seamlessly integrated throughout the facility, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.

Funding for the new campus came from a combination of sources, including bonds amounting to $48 million, which were necessary for purchasing the land and constructing the facility. Despite charter schools like Valor South Austin facing funding challenges—receiving roughly 20% less public funding than traditional school districts—Valor Education continues to seek contributions. Currently, the school is also engaged in a $3 million capital campaign to support its operations and future growth.

David Williams, the founder and president of Valor Education, emphasizes the heart of Valor lies in its community. His gratitude extends to the dedicated families and supporters who have made the realization of the new campus possible. The school's ethos of cultivating wisdom and virtue through a classical approach underscores its commitment to enriching the lives of students from all backgrounds.

Since its inception, Valor Education has established a robust waitlist of over 5,000 children, indicating the strong demand for its educational philosophy. Its motto, "Sapientia per Admirationem," meaning ‘‘Wisdom through Wonder,’’ continues to inspire both students and educators alike.

As Valor South Austin marks a new chapter in its history, it stands as a testament to the power of community support in building an educational environment dedicated to fostering future leaders and thinkers who are rooted in virtues.
