ZoomCare Expands Access to Medicare Services
In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility, ZoomCare has announced its acceptance of Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans at all 45 of its clinics located in Oregon and Washington. This expansion is poised to benefit approximately 2.5 million residents in these states, a substantial portion of whom are currently enrolled in these healthcare programs.
According to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), nearly 20% of the population in Oregon and Washington is enrolled in Medicare or Medicare Advantage as of 2024. The CEO of ZoomCare, Jeff Fee, noted that many seniors have faced challenges in finding suitable healthcare providers and have endured lengthy waiting times for appointments. The latest move by ZoomCare aims to alleviate this pressing need by providing convenient, high-quality care tailored to Medicare recipients.
ZoomCare has established itself as an in-network provider for a majority of Medicare Advantage plans within the region. Patients are encouraged to contact their plans directly to confirm whether ZoomCare is included in their network.
Since its inception in 2006, ZoomCare has earned a reputation for prioritizing an excellent patient experience, focusing on compassion, quality, and efficiency. The organization aims to streamline healthcare visits for Medicare patients, with the goal of completing appointments within 30 minutes. The seamless transfer of health records and visit history across the ZoomCare network ensures that every patient receives consistent care, regardless of the clinic they visit.
Apart from providing urgent care, ZoomCare includes a diverse array of services, such as primary care, mental health support, dermatology, podiatry, and specialties focused on women's health. With its Super clinics designed to handle emergencies, ZoomCare boasts an impressive average treatment time of just over an hour for emergencies, including procedures like lab work and X-rays. This contrasts markedly with the typical wait time of approximately 2.5 hours experienced in standard emergency departments.
To facilitate this expansion, last summer, ZoomCare transitioned to a Medicare-certified electronic health records platform called Athenahealth. This state-of-the-art technology allows for efficient access to, and sharing of, patient information across various providers and healthcare systems. After successful pilot programs at their clinics in Edmonds and Woodinville, Washington, the rollout of acceptance of Medicare across all ZoomCare clinics was initiated.
Utilizing this certified platform has enabled ZoomCare to forge partnerships with major health systems and insurance providers, thereby broadening access to urgent, primary, emergency, and specialty medical services for their community.
As a pioneer in transforming local healthcare landscapes, ZoomCare’s ethos is simple: making healthcare easy. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2006, the company has expanded its reach to over 45 locations across Oregon and Washington, dedicating itself to improving healthcare access and delivering evidence-based care enriched with compassion at every point of contact.
