In an ever-globalizing world, the ability to communicate in English is essential for students aiming to become the next generation of leaders. From August 19 to August 25, 2026, the International Business Contest (IBC 2026) took place in Tokyo, gathering 48 undergraduate students from Japan, China, and South Korea. This prestigious event was organized by OVAL JAPAN, a student organization dedicated to fostering international exchanges among students from these three countries.

Native Camp, a leading online English conversation service based in Shibuya, Tokyo, provided free online English lessons for three months to the participants and OVAL staff. This initiative underscores Native Camp's commitment to bridging linguistic and cultural gaps as students work together on business plans in English, the contest's common language.

The Importance of English in Global Business


In today's interconnected society, being able to articulate thoughts in English is vital. However, it goes beyond mere language skills; it includes the ability to engage with diverse cultures and viewpoints to create innovative solutions. IBC 2026 offered students the chance to learn and grow through collaboration across nationalities.

Participants formed teams comprising students of different nationalities and spent a week developing comprehensive business plans. During this time, they engaged in discussions that challenged their English proficiency while also enhancing their teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Through collaborative efforts, the students became more aware of the cultural backgrounds and distinctions that influence their viewpoints.
