In a significant movement towards labor organization, dozens of Transportation Operations Management (TOM) Team drivers at Amazon's MCI9 facility have joined the ranks of Teamsters Local 41, marking a robust step in their fight for better working conditions. This unionization places them as the second group of Amazon CDL drivers to join Teamsters, demonstrating a growing collective effort to advocate for rights within the company.

Randy Korgan, Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division, emphasized the vital role that TOM Team drivers play in the overall operations of Amazon, stating, "These individuals are just as fundamental to Amazon's logistics as warehouse employees and last-mile drivers." He underscored the challenges faced by these workers, pointing out that Amazon is attempting to suppress the unionizing momentum. Following suit, Joseph Monslow, the President of Local 41, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming the MCI9 drivers. He stated, "Amazon poses the most significant threat to the prosperity of the working class. We look forward to standing alongside our newly united members as they strive to secure their first union contract."

Throughout their day-to-day operations, the TOM Team drivers are responsible for transporting freight across various Amazon facilities, preparing packages for last-mile deliveries. Their recent shift towards unionization has been fueled by a desire for better wages, respect from management, and a properly structured work environment that eliminates arbitrary changes to policies.

Glenn Watford, a newly inducted member of Local 41 from MCI9, articulated the distressing unpredictability faced by drivers concerning policy changes. "Management often alters work policies without prior notice and disciplines us without warning, which is unfair," he stated, highlighting the vulnerabilities workers face without union backing.

Reflecting on the importance of collective bargaining, Watford affirmed, "To safeguard our livelihoods, we must come together under the Teamsters banner and demand the respect we rightfully deserve." His sentiments echo across the MCI9 facility, where motivation to improve working conditions and management treatment is prevalent and growing.

The MCI9 Teamsters now join the ranks of CDL drivers at the SDF9 facility in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, enhancing a nationwide movement of over 10,000 Amazon Teamsters advocating for union representation.
