Rain Expands Multi-Chain Support for Card Programs
In a recent announcement, Rain, a prominent global platform for stablecoin-powered card issuance, has unveiled its native support for Solana, Tron, and Stellar. This significant development aims to empower partners in launching stablecoin card programs concurrently across various blockchains, thereby enhancing the versatility and utility of digital assets in real-world transactions.
Rain's expansion of services is rooted in its commitment to creating a modern financial infrastructure that is more accessible, programmable, and globally focused. With the introduction of support for Solana’s high-throughput infrastructure, Tron’s rich stablecoin ecosystem, and Stellar’s money transfer capabilities, Rain allows partners to rapidly deploy compliant card programs that facilitate both consumer and B2B spending, cross-border remittances, and payouts.
As the only Visa Principal Member offering multi-chain support, Rain enables partners to implement and manage card programs simultaneously across different blockchain networks. This functionality is available out-of-the-box and allows for both custodial and non-custodial wallet integrations, which greatly simplifies the issuance processes for exchanges, fintech companies, neobanks, and platforms. As a result, stablecoins can be instantly utilized at more than 150 million merchants worldwide that accept Visa, representing a significant advancement in the adaptability of digital currencies.
Charles Yoo-Naut, Rain's CTO and co-founder, emphasized the company’s dedication to rapidly developing solutions that cater to partner needs. He stated, 'Our mission is to build a financial infrastructure that is more global, open, and efficient. By providing built-in support for Solana, Tron, and Stellar, we introduce our solution to broader ecosystems, allowing partners to create scalable stablecoin-based card programs that enhance payment experiences for everyone.'
Key examples of partnerships leveraging this expanded support include KAST, a neobank app based on Solana, which collaborates with Rain to offer branded cards that enable users to spend stablecoins directly from their wallets. Thanks to Solana’s swift and cost-effective architecture, KAST delivers seamless and real-time payment experiences to its growing global user base.
Another instance is Offramp, a fintech platform built on the Tron network, which works with Rain for its card program. Offramp is on a mission to enhance financial freedom for individuals worldwide, having established a strong foothold in Latin America. With a Rain-issued Visa card, users can access and utilize digital dollars in any location that accepts Visa, seamlessly bridging the gap between on-chain assets and the real world.
These new integrations respond to the rising demand from platforms that seek to facilitate seamless spending via stablecoins and access to cards across various ecosystems. Previously, Rain supported other blockchain networks, including Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon, and this latest expansion fortifies its leadership in providing a multi-chain infrastructure for stablecoin-based cards.
In addition, Rain recently concluded a Series A funding round in March that raised $24.5 million. Today’s announcement marks another pivotal milestone in Rain’s rapid growth trajectory, furthering its capital commitments to support new partners, expand its global footprint, and meet the increasing worldwide demand for programmable payment solutions.
