Understanding Legacies: A Seminar on Bequests and Their Impact
The Citizen Society Creation Fund, a nonprofit organization, is hosting a seminar centered on the theme of
bequest donations. This event will cover real-world examples of such donations and essential tax knowledge.
The seminar aims to connect donors, lawyers, tax advisors, and judicial scriveners, guiding them on their next steps in utilizing bequest donations to make a social impact.

Background
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the use of
bequest donations as a means to utilize funds with intention. However, many potential donors are often uncertain about critical aspects such as:

- - How will their valuable assets be utilized?
- - What process should be followed when drafting a will?
- - When is the appropriate time to implement such plans?
This seminar will explore these questions and more through a combination of presentations on
the philosophy of bequest donations, trends in bequest donations, fundamental tax considerations, and actual case studies and challenges. Through these discussions, participants will learn important strategies and methods to maximize the impact of their intentions.

Speaker Profiles
Yoshinori Yamaoka (Chairman of Citizen Society Creation Fund)
After graduating from university, he engaged in urban planning research and practice before joining the Toyota Foundation in 1972. He has been involved in research and grant activities and assisted in establishing the Grantmaking Foundation Center. Since his independence in 1992, he has advocated for the legislative promotion of the NPO law and co-founded the Japan NPO Center in 1997. He served as a professor at Hosei University and has been the Chairman of the Citizen Society Creation Fund and the Grantmaking Foundation Center since 2012, aiming to realize a citizen society through philanthropy from businesses and individuals.
Takeshi Hayasaka (Tax Accountant, Administrative Scrivener, President of Satellite Office Co., Ltd.)
He serves on the board of the Kanagawa Living Citizen Fund and is a committee member for the NPO accounting standards. Hayasaka has also lectured at universities for seven years and specializes in accounting and taxation for non-profit organizations. He has been actively involved in non-profit affairs since the establishment of the NPO law in 1999 and provides wide-ranging services related to non-profit organizations, assisting in certified NPO applications and consulting regarding bequest donations.
Takeshi Jitsuya (Chairman of the Hyogo Community Foundation)
After graduating during the height of the asset bubble, Jitsuya worked briefly in finance before embarking on a journey as an overseas backpacker and living in mountain temples. His experience during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995 led him into the world of volunteerism and NPO work. Since then, he has dedicated himself to supporting NPOs as a director of a civic activity center established through private initiative. In 2013, he founded the Hyogo Community Foundation, aspiring to strengthen civic participation through donations and grants.
