Next-Gen Sports Debut at SOEDA-LAN
In a remarkable showcase of the future of digital sports, the
SASSEN and
Cyber KASSEN made their debut at the first
SOEDA-LAN e-sports event held on December 13 and 14, 2025, in the quaint setting of an old elementary school in Soeda Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. Organized by the Japan Sassen Association, this groundbreaking event attracted around 500 eager participants over two days, creating a lively atmosphere reminiscent of traditional gaming culture.
A Nostalgic Venue and Inclusive Theme
The SOEDA-LAN event was designed to bridge the past and present, themed around “the nostalgic school building intertwined with gaming, creating everyone’s after-school activities.” The venue, a closed elementary school, was transformed into a fully interactive gaming center, featuring modern TV games, virtual reality setups, nostalgic arcade classics, mahjong, and board games—truly a gathering space for all generations.
In the main gymnasium, an array of engaging activities were held, including a participatory event led by popular gaming talent
Gō☆Jas. Additionally, a special performance by
Ran Mouri, the local PR ambassador, excited attendees, along with an interactive quiz competition and an exhibition match from professional gamer
Miya of the FENNEL team. The diversity of the program brought excitement and variety to all participants.
Unprecedented Participation in New Sports
During the two-day event, SASSEN and Cyber KASSEN attracted a steady stream of enthusiasts. On the first day alone, around 200 people experienced SASSEN, followed by 300 on the second day. Thanks to its origins in Kitakyushu and its unique twist as a
