Luis Gonzalez Takes the Helm as Chief Commercial Officer at Middle West Spirits
Middle West Spirits has officially announced the appointment of Luis Gonzalez as the new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). This strategic move comes on the heels of the distillery's acquisition of Old Elk Distillery in May 2025, where Gonzalez previously served as CEO. This acquisition positions Middle West Spirits as a major player within the North American spirits market, enhancing its operational scale and portfolio offerings.
In his new capacity as CCO, Gonzalez will be responsible for steering the commercial strategy and its implementation. He will oversee both the Operations and Marketing divisions of Middle West Spirits, with a particular focus on expanding the company's successful contract distillation program. This initiative aims to broaden the distillery’s international footprint, allowing partners to create and market custom spirits under their own labels.
Ryan Lang, the Founder and CEO of Middle West Spirits, expressed his enthusiasm about Gonzalez's appointment, stating, “This is an exciting chapter for Middle West. Luis is a proven leader who understands the power of people, process, and brand. His unique ability to align strategy with execution will be key to accelerating our commercial momentum and unlocking new opportunities across our portfolio and the globe.”
Gonzalez has a strong background in the spirits industry, having transformed Old Elk Distillery from a relatively small craft operation into an acclaimed whiskey brand recognized across all 50 states. His leadership was marked by a dedication to quality and innovation, which helped Old Elk set a high standard for American bourbon.
Growth Potential and Vision
In an interview following his appointment, Gonzalez stated, “Middle West has long been committed to raising the bar in the global spirits industry. The team here has earned a reputation for excellence, innovation, and consistency, grounded in integrity and honor. I’m excited and grateful to join this remarkable team and serve the business as it enters its next era.” He emphasized the company’s cutting-edge facility and modern approach, which holistically positions Middle West Spirits for significant growth both in branded and contract operations.
“Whether you’re a distributor, a producer, or a new entrepreneur in the market, Middle West offers partnerships founded on trust, results, and long-term success. I will ensure that the company remains a reliable partner for all our stakeholders,” Gonzalez added.
