Celebrating Craftsmanship: HiKOKI Builder's Spirit Award 2024 Ceremony
In April 2026, Koki Holdings Japan, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, held the second edition of the
HiKOKI Builder's Spirit Award. This prestigious event recognizes craftsmen in the construction industry who embody the highest aspirations in their work, celebrating their daily struggles even in challenging environments.
The award was conceived to honor those who support society and the construction trade, and it draws attention to artisans who utilize electric and air tools. Participants were asked to convey their passion and dedication to their work through written submissions and video messages. The final awards included categories like
Grand Prize,
Spirit Award, and
Frontier Award, each highlighting exceptional craftsmanship.
Exciting Talk Session Prior to the Ceremony
Before the award ceremony commenced, a talk session featuring lead supporter Hiroshi (Hiromi) and special guest Yuumi Chammy took place. The discussion began with the topic of
generational gaps in the workforce. Hiroshi noted his awareness of age, stating, “As someone over 60, I strive not to be burdensome. The younger generation, including Yuumi’s, impresses with their energy.” In response, Yuumi chimed in, expressing that while she often works with senior craftsmen, she doesn’t feel a significant generational divide.
The conversation then shifted towards what defines a
craftsman. Hiroshi shared anecdotes from his childhood as the son of a carpenter, emphasizing the cleanliness and professionalism of craftsmen today. Yuumi added her perspective, noting that many of her peers seem drawn to the profession, showcasing stylish work on social media, challenging traditional perceptions.
