Rebel Fuels Launches Innovative Carbon Recycling to Combat Climate Change

Rebel Fuels Takes Bold Step Against Climate Change

In a landmark move aimed at tackling climate change, Rebel Fuels Inc., a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, has officially launched its innovative carbon recycling technology. This initiative is designed to transform waste carbon dioxide (CO2) into carbon-neutral fuels, offering a sustainable solution to conventional fossil fuels while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions significantly.

Rebel Fuels is set to revolutionize the energy sector by developing plants that will capture biogenic CO2 from various sources, including ethanol and alcohol distilleries, wastewater treatment facilities, and biogas production plants. The captured CO2 will be combined with hydrogen produced from renewable sources, resulting in carbon-neutral fuels. This process not only aids in reducing waste emissions but also establishes a circular carbon economy, contributing to the creation of sustainable fuel products from renewable waste streams.

During its unveiling, Rebel Fuels announced the appointment of two esteemed professionals to its advisory board. Jon Harman and Barbara Toole O'Neil are both recognized figures in the fields of energy and sustainability, equipped with decades of experience which they will leverage to steer the company's strategy moving forward.

According to Toby Tiktinsky, CEO of Rebel Fuels, the company’s goal is to recycle waste CO2 into usable fuels such as methane. He emphasized the importance of creating a circular carbon economy, stating, "By recycling waste CO2 into useful fuels like methane, we reduce emissions and pave the way toward a circular carbon economy. Our focus on drop-in ready fuels will enable us to utilize existing infrastructure, allowing utility companies and industrial operations to decarbonize sectors that typically resist electrification."

Rebel Fuels’ operations resonate with global efforts aimed at combating climate change while retaining the advantages brought about by current hydrocarbon fuels. As a Public Benefit Corporation, it is dedicated to achieving a positive environmental impact while also generating financial returns.

Meet the Advisory Board

Jon Harman, a revered leader in cleantech with over twenty years of experience in advanced energy innovations, joins the advisory board. Currently the Applications Engineering Services Director at Ceres, he has led extensive investment programs in solid oxide electrolysis technologies and successfully navigated international technology licensing agreements. His insights into hydrogen production technologies are set to guide Rebel Fuels' strategic initiatives effectively.

On the other hand, Barbara Toole O'Neil brings over thirty-nine years of expertise in climate and energy services. As Principal Scientist at Aster Global Environmental Solutions, she possesses a wealth of knowledge in environmental compliance and carbon markets. Holding an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron and a B.S. in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University, her roles as Lead Verifier for the California Air Resources Board and as a member of the Hearing Board at the Bay Area Air Quality Management District make her expertise extremely valuable to Rebel Fuels.
